Happy Veteran’s Day from Brambleton Middle School! 🇺🇸
A message from our BAM Ambassadors!
Loudoun County Public Schools
Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) maintained their traditions associated with Patriot Day, the commemoration of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, despite restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
Here are three of the activities that took place throughout LCPS on Friday:
• At Loudoun County High School, staff continued a tradition begun by students in 2016 by placing 2,997 miniature flags – one for every 9/11 victim – on the high school’s front lawn. The flags are the same ones purchased by students in 2016. They are kept in storage for this observance each year.
• Brambleton Middle School participated in a School-Wide Day of Service last year to honor those lost on 9/11. More than 1,500 students participated in service, along with many families and community members. This year, Brambleton continued the tradition of the School-Wide Day of service virtually. The Social Science Department created opportunities for students to take part in activities honoring those lost on September 11, 2001. Students could go to the BAMServes20 choice board to take part in activities such as interviewing family members about their memories of 9/11; writing letters to veterans and service members; contributing a decorated rock to the schools 9/11 Memorial Garden; or contributing to a food bank in honor of 9/11. On Thursday, staff members planted thousands of flags on the school’s grounds.
At Pinebrook Elementary, Principal Paul Thiessen put together a special morning announcement (https://tinyurl.com/y5fduw72) featuring a video collection of past Pinebrook ceremonies.
