"Discover the Marine Industry" Art Contest
Calling all artists! Check out the "Discover the Marine Industry" art contest sponsored by NAMEPA, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Sea Research Foundation! Kids in grades K-12 are invited to come up with a creative way to answer the following question: How does the marine industry affect your daily life? Entries are due by March 1, 2015. Click below for more details.

Our parent organization, JASON Learning, has just launched two new recycling contests for the 2014-15 school year. Immersion students are encouraged to participate to make a difference and maybe even win some cool prizes!
National Automobile Recycling Awareness Contest
Students in grades 5-12 are invited to participate in a national automobile recycling awareness contest sponsored by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) and JASON Learning. The automobile plays an important role in our everyday lives. Have you ever thought about how many different commodities are needed to make all the parts that go into a car? Did you know that almost all these commodities are recyclable? Your challenge is to research one or more of the commodities that go into making a car and find out what happens to each commodity through the automobile recycling process and beyond.
For contest guidelines, prize details, and more information about automobile recycling, visit the contest page: http://www.jason.org/contest/2014-2015-automobile-recycling-awareness-contest
"Think Outside the Bag" Recycling Contest
Students in grades K-12 are invited to participate in a national plastic film recycling contest sponsored by SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association (SPI) and JASON Learning. Plastic bags and many other flexible plastic film products are 100% recyclable. Yet, as of 2012, only 12% of these items were being recycled. How could you convince members of your community to recycle their unwanted plastic films - including grocery bags, product wrapping, and dry cleaning bags - instead of throwing them away?
For complete contest guidelines, prize details, and more information
about plastic film recycling, visit the contest page:
