FAVORITE BOOK DAY

To kick off “March is Reading Month” student council encouraged the students to bring their favorite books to school to share. Here are some of the students with their favorite book choices.

This Friday (3/4) is an early release day for students. There will not be popcorn on this day.

Perseverance is the character trait we will be focusing on for the month of March.

Thank you to all 77 Dawson HEROes that participated in the American Heart Association fundraiser. With your help Dawson raised $5382.89 for this great cause!

DAWSON POOL NIGHT

Join us on March 11th for pool night. All proceeds benefit the Dawson HERO program. Please note that pool capacity is limited to 200 people.

We've got another round of candy science kits for kids this week. Grab a bag from our lobby to learn about the rock cycle in the sweetest way. All kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and we ask that each individual takes just one kit to allow others the opportunity to participate too! New kits for different age groups will be released at the beginning of each week throughout the winter quarter.

TWOS-DAY

Some classes had fun doing activities around the number two on Tuesday 2-22-22. The 2 teachers of grade 2 even had matching shirts to help celebrate 2-22-22.

This Wednesday is an early release day. School will be released 3 hours early on 2/23.

FEBRUARY SCHOOL PRIDE ACTIVITY

This months’s Student Council School Pride activity was to have the students at Dawson make Valentines for the residents that live at Briarwood. We delivered over 100 valentines to the residents today. This is one way for the students at Dawson to show that they are proud to be Dawson Heroes and are helpful to others.

KIDS HEART CHALLENGE

The Kids Heart Challenge is off to a great start. So far 63 of our Dawson HEROes have raised over $4,000 for this great cause. Can you help us exceed $5,000? There is still time to collect donations. Here is the link to sign up.

This week we've got a sweet science experiment for kids in our Take & Create kits. How fast will a candy heart dissolve in different liquids, if at all? All kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and we ask that each individual takes just one kit to allow others the opportunity to participate too! HIP! HIP! HOORAY! IT’S HUNDREDS DAY!

Today the kids were invited to dress as if they were 100 to help celebrate their 100th day of school this school year. Many classes also took part in fun activities relating to the number 100!

The next PTO meeting will take place tomorrow at 3:15 p.m. in room 229 at Dawson. We hope to see you then.

The character trait we are focusing on for the month of February is honesty.

BOOK FAIR NEXT WEEK

Next week the kids will get to shop during their library times if they bring money. The book fair will also be open to the public on Tuesday from 3:30-7 p.m. and Wednesday from 1-4 p.m. Come and check all the books and fun merchandise that is available.
