Blessed Sacrament School

BSS was built in 1954. It was grades 1 through 8. Most of the teachers were Sisters of St. Joseph.

[12/09/20]   Father Drinan was pastor at Blessed Sacrament just before Fr. Ed. On December 7, 1941, he was in Pearl Harbor as a Navy chaplain. That day he switched places with a chaplain on another ship because of an Advent program. If he hadn't, he may have never come to Allegan, because his ship was bombed. During WWII, and probably also while Fr. Drinan was here, the parish did fundraising for the school, but Fr. Ed was the one who got it built.

[06/05/14]   Please chime in if you wish to join a whole school reunion! Or if you have any pictures or memorabilia to share by scanning for our album. We really need an old photo of the front of the school for our main picture! Invite your friends to "like" to help get this off the ground! Thanks! Teresa B.

[06/02/14]   Talk about BSS memories...remember "that" smell inside the school? It's still the same. What could it be? Walking down the upstairs hallway is an eerie feeling like being six years old again.

[01/30/14]   Anyone have photos? Bring to library please so we can copy, or send copy to library.

We lost a beautiful soul last night to the heavens. Susan Chappell died of a massive heart attack. Gordon's Funeral Residence is handling the arrangements. Sue graduated eighth grade in 1965 from BSS and from Allegan High School in 1969. God bless Sue!

[11/10/13]   Please see the BSS photos and feel free to "tag" yourself or anyone you know. It's fun to identify who still lives around town and who you now know! If you have photos please leave them at the library to be scanned to a flash drive for future use. Thanks!

[02/25/13]   Do to the lack of interest, the idea of a reunion has been "shelved". If anyone is interested please post here; if we can get enough interest maybe we can proceed. Thanks.

[09/13/12]   Please pass on the word about the Blessed Sacrament School reunion possibility for next summer. Please tell your families and BSS friends and ask them to respond so we can receive an insight on whether or not to proceed with planning. Thanks much!

[09/11/12]   What do you former BSS students/employees think of a school reunion for summer of next year 2013? Would you come? Would you volunteer? Any thoughts?
