Algona, Iowa Chapter of the Izaak Walton League beginning our 4th year building our local area High School Trapshooting Program.
The East Fork Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of Algona, IA is beginning the 4th year (2014) of our High School Trapshooting Program. Both local High Schools, Algona High School and Bishop Garrigan High School, have numerous young shooters participating in the program creating multiple teams. The AHS & BGHS Teams practice and travel to shooting events together but also compete against one another at shooting competitions creating a unique camaraderie for students from both high schools. Our High School Shooting Program is a member of the SSSF – Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (http://sssfonline.com/) and participate in their SCTP – Scholastic Clay Target Program (http://sssfonline.com/about-sctp/ ). This page is being established to help promote our growing program and as a meeting place for Team Members, Coaches, Parents, Fans of both high schools, as well as Fans of Youth Shooting Programs in general. Our event and practice schedule will be posted on this Page, information updates & reminders, student pictures, scores from the various competitions and events as well as interesting and educational trapshooting and firearm safety posts. Every attempt is made to keep the cost per student in our program to a minimum!!! Funds are generated by Donations and Fundraisers, including Pancake Breakfasts at the Ike’s Clubhouse 3 miles North of Algona across Hwy 169 from Smith Lake, Gun Raffles and other programs. LIKE us and help promote this valuable youth shooting program. We provide student athletes with a supportive environment where shooting sports serve as catalysts for teaching life lessons and skills that emphasize positive character traits and citizenship values. Throughout all training, practice and competitions, we continue to instill in our participants a commitment to safe firearm handling, teamwork and leadership.
