Alfred State SUNY College of Technology
Alfred State Residence Life is made up of thirteen residence halls, located in three geographic areas of the campus which allows you to choose between suite and corridor style housing. Through Alfred State Residential Services, our students have the opportunity to broaden their horizons by meeting new people from within the state, county, and around the world. There are so many ways to become involved within residence halls, academic programs, and throughout the campus to help make your college experience the best it can be! Living on-campus gives you the opportunity to life in many different settings during your time at Alfred State. There are corridor and suite-style options as well as townhouses for upperclassmen. There are many lifestyles to choose from as well: non-smoking, baccalaureate, substance-free, healthy lifestyle, Over 21, 24 and Over, Quiet Study, Pet Friendly, and Living and Learning Community. The Living and Learning Community options are: Leadership, Global Scholars, Architecture, and Nursing. Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 8 am this morning to 2 am EDT Thursday.
Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 2 am to 11 am EDT Thursday.
The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Wind Chill Advisory, which is in effect from 2 am to 11 am EDT Thursday.
Locations: Cattaraugus and Allegany counties. Greatest Snow amounts across the northern half of the area, with the lowest amounts near the Pennsylvania state line.
Timing: A wintry mix will change to all snow later this morning. Heaviest snow from late morning through this evening.
Hazards: Heavy snow, blowing snow, and freezing rain.
Accumulations: snow accumulating 6 to 11 inches today, 3 to 6 inches tonight, and an inch or less Thursday, leading to storm totals of 9 to 18 inches. Ice accumulating up to one quarter of an inch today, leading to storm totals of up to one quarter of an inch.
Winds: north 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph producing areas of blowing and drifting snow.
Wind chills, as cold as 15 to 20 below late tonight and Thursday morning.
Visibilities: less than a quarter mile at times.
Impacts: A wintry mix during the first half of Wednesday will produce very slippery travel. Mixed precipitation will quickly change over to heavy snow by midday Wednesday, with snow and blowing snow lasting through the evening hours. This will result in very difficult travel with deep snow cover on roads and very poor visibility.
