- Develops, weekly plans, and implements age appropriate curriculum (lesson plan) to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their care

- Provides a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth

- Perform on-going developmental evaluations of children as required by funding sources and develop lesson plans and follow curriculum implementation that addresses the individual needs of each child to meet kindergarten standards of learning

- Provide responsive care to all children by adapting daily care giving routines and plans to the interests and needs of the individual child and the group

- Prepare developmental progress reports as needed

- Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents/ caregivers

- Provide a classroom environment that encourages parent participation

- Plan periodical parent conferences to discuss children's developmental progress, needs, and interests

- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely client and agency records; completes daily meal and attendance records

- Maintains up-to-date emergency forms, curriculum plans, individual child development profiles, and other records as needed

- Completes and reports any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor and/or child abuse hotline.

- Completes daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children

- Assures a healthy, safe, clean, and developmentally-appropriate environment for children

- Reports all staffing and classroom concerns to supervisor in a timely manner

- Reports family changes in schedules and excessive absences to administration in a timely manner

- Participate in on-going, in-service, and educational development opportunities provided

- In accordance with our "team" philosophy, the person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out and/or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed on this job description

- Staff must believe in and act in accordance with both the licensing and the program's mission statements

- Greet each child and parent as they enter the classroom

- Use the telephone in your classroom if you need assistance or have questions

- Know child/staff ratio for your group of children

- Be aware of children with allergies

- Know procedures for the care of an injured or ill child

- Know the procedures for fire and weather related emergencies

- Direct all questions about the center concerning policy and procedures, federal, state, and local regulatory agencies to the Director or Assistant Director

- Comply with federally mandated universal precautions and infection control guidelines and procedures

- Be familiar with and stay current on state child care regulations, local and federal regulatory agencies, Spring Hill Academy policies and procedures, and maintain compliance with all

- Arrive on time in appropriate attire

- Work alongside lead teacher and with each child to accomplish developmental milestones

- Be attentive and responsive to infant's daily needs

- Follow daily schedule for feeding times and nap times

- Direct parents to front desk if medication is to be administered

- Be ready and willing to discuss a child's progress or any concerns a parent may express if lead teacher is unavailable

- Check all belongings of each child to ensure they are labeled with the child's first and last name

- Observe, record, and report infant development on KidReports app

- Assist lead teacher in keeping decorations in your classroom up to date

- Follow the Steps for Diapering each time you change a child's diaper

- Follow the recommendations on the Cleaning Chart to properly sanitize and disinfect your classroom and equipment

- Change crib/mat sheets and blankets once daily, or more often if needed

- Keep Director or Assistant Director informed of needed structure or equipment repairs

- Follow the Spring Hill Academy Discipline Policy

- Report and document any infant's unusual behavior to Director or Assistant Director

- Report and document any suspected child abuse whether verbal, physical, sexual, or neglect to the Director, or Assistant Director

- Follow the Spring Hill Academy Policy concerning the time a child may remain in any equipment

- Follow the Spring Hill Academy Policy for bottle-feeding

- Send Accident and Incident reports to the front desk prior to the parent's arrival

- Children should be engaged in an activity while awaiting their parent's arrival

- Have children's personal items and Daily Report ready at the end of each day

- Release children to authorized persons only
