Please note, our Winter Concert will be moved to tomorrow, Friday, December 16th at 4:30 pm in the auditorium.

Next week, Guidepost Montessori at Aldie is having Winter Spirit Week. We look forward to seeing everyone participate. 😊
Just a friendly reminder, we are closed Thursday, November 24th, and Friday, November 25th, for Thanksgiving Break. We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Fall Festival 2022 at Guidepost Montessori Aldie was successfully accomplished! Thank you everyone for coming out and joining us at the Fall Festival. We hope you and your family had a great time! 🥰
The Winner of the Pumpkin Decorating Contest is the Rainbow Fish, created by Children's House Room 1, 2nd place is the Witch, created by Children's House Room 13; and 3rd place is the Moe Nido, created by Nido Room 12. 🥳

A little bit of the story behind the Rainbow Fish pumpkin's idea:
Ms. Justine, our Children's House Room 1's Assistant Guide mentioned that the Rainbow Fish was her favorite childhood book. The author is from Switzerland, so it was prominent back then when she grew up in France. The story of the rainbow fish is about sharing. Children loved discovering the book and the story; plus, the rainbow fish is so colorful, especially the shiny scales. What they enjoyed the most was having all the children participate at different levels; some pin-punched the scales, others glued them, and others made the mouth. It was indeed a team effort!

Thank you to all the classrooms for creating a fantastic pumpkin for the contest. We are truly amazed by how much creativity and effort you all put into your pumpkin.
We finished our spirit week with the Costume Parade! We want to thank everyone for showing the fall spirit. We enjoyed seeing everyone dress up and participate in Guidepost Aldie Fall Spirit week 2022.
We loved seeing all the crazy hair and creative fun hat today! Tomorrow, we're going to have the Halloween Costume Parade, which will begin at 9:00am. We look forward to seeing everyone at the parade!
Happy Flannel Day!!! Tomorrow is Crazy Hair/ Witch Hat/ Hat Day😋 We can't wait to see everyone's wacky hats and hairstyles!

Happy International Day of Peace! Did you know that in the Montessori curriculum, peace education is also a major component of the classroom? In each classroom, we have a peace table, at which two students can go to resolve a conflict or a single child can go to calm down and feel peaceful. One approach is the use of a peace rose. Children learn to take turns holding the peace rose while expressing how they feel and they will stay at the peace table until they have heard each other and resolved their conflict. And today Ms. Stacy will be reading to all students about Peace Day! 🕊

In the Montessori toddler community, children have access to increasingly cultivated Montessori activities. Each activity corresponds to the appropriate moment in children's growth and is prepared to strengthen the integration between their mind and their hands. These activities support the toddler in learning to understand cause and effect, solve problems, make choices, and pursue goals, as well as giving them plenty of opportunities to practice increasingly coordinated movements.

Congratulations on another year of great work to Ms. Rajneet! She has been with us for 3 years. Ms. Rajneet is a Lead Guide in the Children's House community. She supports children carefully and engages them with the work materials. To ensure quality programming for the children, she works closely with the guides and families. Meet the Guide: Ms. Briana Clark

Ms. Briana was well-equipped with a psychology degree prior to becoming a teacher, she became easily accustomed to the Montessori childhood development environment. Having worked in a traditional daycare environment in the past, her views on childhood education were drastically changed after observing and implementing the Montessori teaching philosophy for the first time in 2017; a philosophy that actually allowed her to incorporate the skills and techniques learned throughout her psychology degree program. Through understanding the Montessori philosophy she developed a strong newfound passion for gifting both her students and their parents with a positive, mindful approach to childhood learning and independence.

After taking a short break from teaching and having a newborn son, Ms. Briana strives to bring back her professional experience to the classroom to continue teaching the beloved Montessori principles to her students, their parents, and her son now more than ever before.

🔔🎶 Discovering Pitch with Bells in our Montessori Classroom! 🔔🎶

🌟 At Guidepost Montessori, we believe in providing our students with a rich and unique learning experience. Today, we're thrilled to share one of the many captivating materials we use to cultivate a love for music: the bells! 🎵

🔔 The bells in our Montessori classroom are not just beautiful instruments; they play a vital role in helping our students develop their sense of pitch. Each bell is meticulously crafted to produce a distinct sound, representing different notes on the musical scale. 🎶

🔍 Our sequential method allows children to master each concept they are introduced to, whether it's literacy, math, geography, or even music. Through carefully designed activities, our students learn to identify and differentiate between various pitches by matching the sounds produced by the bells. They explore melodies, experiment with rhythm, and begin to understand the magical language of music. 🎼

The beauty of Montessori education lies in its holistic approach, fostering growth across all areas of development. Our program recognizes the importance of music as an integral part of a child's education, nurturing their creativity, enhancing cognitive skills, and building self-expression. 🎹

By incorporating the bells into our curriculum, we ignite a spark within our students, cultivating a lifelong appreciation for music. They not only learn to play the bells but also develop a deep understanding of pitch, harmony, and melody. 🌟

Join us on this musical journey at Guidepost Montessori, where each child is encouraged to explore their unique talents and passions. Experience the power of Montessori education and witness your child flourish in a vibrant and enriching environment. 🎵

In a prepared environment, students direct their own activities, building knowledge, confidence, and social skills along the way. Teachers empower children to use all the available materials, ranging from practical life activities to geography to mathematics.

07/27/2023

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you needed to be somewhere urgently, but your toddler insisted on independently putting on her shoes, leading to delays? Or perhaps you were engrossed in household chores, only to be interrupted by your bored toddler seeking attention?

Fret not, as you can simultaneously assist your toddler in becoming more efficient and alleviate their boredom! When your little one is in need of an engaging activity, consider providing a brief lesson on putting on their own shoes. Begin by handing them one shoe while demonstrating the process of carefully putting on your own shoe, emphasizing important steps such as loosening the laces or adjusting the tongue.

Once your child has gained proficiency in putting on their shoes, proceed to guide them on correctly distinguishing the right feet for each shoe. Subsequently, introduce the skill of tying shoelaces, providing patient instruction and demonstration.

By engaging your toddler in this interactive learning experience, you not only facilitate their independence and efficiency but also alleviate their boredom through a productive and educational activity.

Mopping the floor is one of the practical life activities that teach children how to take care of the space around them from physically cleaning to, on a deeper level, appreciating one’s environment.

07/21/2023

The Montessori puzzle maps come in different forms, including a map of the world, maps of each continent, and maps of individual countries. Puzzle Maps are great material for the child to learn new vocabulary while practicing spatial awareness.

Montessori believed strongly in a ‘global education’ to help young children develop an understanding of the connectedness of people around the world. This geography work is a step towards that understanding. -The Guidepost Team

The key to the Montessori approach is the blending of a structured prepared environment of highly designed learning materials with the child’s freedom to pursue their own interests and to be guided on their own path to mastery.

07/07/2023

In the Montessori toddler community, children have access to increasingly-sophisticated Montessori activities. Each activity is matched to the appropriate moment in an individual child's development. These activities support the toddler in learning to comprehend cause and effect, solve problems, make choices, and pursue goals.
