Our first BEE The Good club meeting was a success! Honeybees learned what the club goals for the year would be, discussed ideas for future meetings, and made nearly 150 cards for nurses and patients for a local hospital! Thanks to Shannon Clements for organizing the event!

Our December Staff Appreciation drop was perfect for the drop in temperature! Everyone received Hovatter gloves (with smart tech fingertips for handling phones), and hand warmers for upcoming carline and recess duty! Big thanks to Team Community and Staff Appreciation Chair Courtney Smith for such a fun gift idea!

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who helped make the Holiday Shop a success this past weekend! It would not have been a winter wonderland full of fun without your very hard work! Big thanks also to Bruster's Real Ice Cream and Duck Donuts DMV Duck Truck for making shopping that much sweeter with delicious treats! And a huge thank you goes to Darlene's Photography for providing perfect holiday family portraits!

From our High School:
The Lightridge National English Honors Society is currently collecting books for donation ranging from babies up to 5th grade. If you have any books that fit that category you would like to part with, please feel free to drop them off at the high school front office or if you have a current student at Lightridge, they can drop them off at box in the school library. Last day to donate is Monday, December 12th.

Our Teachers and Staff are awesome to the core, so this month's appreciation drop is DIY caramel apple kits! We couldn't have picked a better crew at Hovatter!

Mark your calendars for Let It Snow: A Holiday Shop Experience! This year, we're holding the event after school hours so Honeybees can bring their families and spend more time browsing, shopping and wrapping. Plus, we've added some extra activities full of cheer!

After shopping for friends and family, Honeybees can pick out custom gift wrap and help tie up their packages with a bow. (Don't worry - we'll have personal shoppers available so the attending grownups can step out and visit other stations, and the gifts will still be a surprise!)

Students can also enjoy complimentary crafts (another great gift idea!) and face painting!

Additionally, Darlene's Photography will be on hand for complimentary mini photo sessions, and treats will be available for purchase from Bruster's Real Ice Cream and Duck Donuts!

We hope you'll join us - it's going to be SNOW much fun!

This will be our last PTA meeting of 2022 (meetings will resume in January), and we'll be discussing the upcoming Holiday Shop, with lots of new experiences included!

One new addition will be the custom gift-wrapping station, where Honeybees can pick out their own wrap for their purchases. To help stock this area, we'd love any leftover rolls of holiday wrap, bags, ribbons, or bows that you might have. Drop any of these items off at the meeting Thursday, and you could win a prize!

Our last day of our BEE the Good Coat Drive is tomorrow (Friday, 11/11) and we'll be curbside in the morning and afternoon for donation drop-offs!

We're looking for new or gently used (and clean) coats, jackets, mittens, gloves, hats and scarves, plus new (in package) underwear and socks; all sizes welcome! Everything benefits Dulles South Neighborhood Closet!

This afternoon, Honeybees received popsicles in their classrooms for a final party to celebrate their Boosterthon achievements (specifically, this incentive was for receiving donations from all 50 states!)
Earlier in the week, the school's administration was slimed (an incentive for reaching our overall fundraising goal!) and it was broadcast so all students could watch!

Way to go Honeybees! Our students, family, teachers and staff went above and BEEyond for Boosterthon!

As you're prepping for cooler weather, consider donating gently used coats, hats, gloves, mittens and scarves (as well as new socks and underwear) to our BEE the Good Coat Drive! The donation boxes will be outside in the morning and afternoon tomorrow for easy drop off!

Fall Picture Retake Day is tomorrow! Be sure to send in your packet if you would like to have your Honeybee's photo retaken; if they were absent, they are already scheduled so no additional forms are needed. Contact the front office if you have any questions or need more details!

Our first BEE the Good initiative of the year is here! BEE the Good is a program to help our Honeybees make an impact in our community. For the next two weeks, we'll be collecting new or gently used coats, jackets, hats, mittens, and scarves (all items must be clean), as well as new socks and underwear in all sizes to benefit the Dulles South Neighborhood Closet!

A collection box is set up in the school already, if you'll be dropping in for conferences on Monday or Tuesday, or send the items in with your Honeybee later in the week!

The October Appreciation drop celebrating the end of the first quarter was all treats, no tricks today! All employees were invited to make their own treat bags and grab a savory snack, either for now or next week during conference and work days!
