Rainbow Valley Playgarden

Rainbow Valley Playgarden provides childcare, parent/child classes, festivals and workshops for children and families in Alamosa, Colorado.

Rainbow Valley Playgarden is based on the model of early childhood care of LifeWays North America, and inspired by Waldorf Education and the work of Rudolf Steiner. In the coming months we will begin to offer relationship-based childcare in our home, in addition to parent/child classes, and Forest School sessions. We believe that children thrive in a warm, home environment with consistent caregivers, with plenty of time outside to explore nature, healthy organic foods, consistent daily and weekly rhythms, an environment nourishing to the senses, opportunity to participate in the real work of the home and plenty of time for imaginative, unstructured free play. We are a home-based childcare facility on a little micro-farm homestead just outside of the town of Alamosa where we are constantly working towards an increasingly sustainable lifestyle. We care for numerous animal friends on our little homestead, including chickens, goats, sheep, alpacas, dogs, cats and rabbits, and grow food in our garden. The children at Rainbow Valley Playgarden get to be a part of it all!

It's amazing how often we are seeing modern research support what Steiner said so many years ago.

Rudolf Steiner, early 1900s: "We can never repair what we have neglected in the first seven years; just as nature causes the proper environment for the physical body before birth, so after birth we must provide for the proper physical environment."
New research shows this to be 100% true. https://aeon.co/essays/how-bad-experiences-in-childhood-lead-to-adult-illness

There are so many sweet moments in mixed-aged childcare! I love how the bigger kids will often wonder over and just gaze lovingly at the baby. She soaks it up, cooing and getting big smiles from the faces smiling over her.
