Tomorrow Wednesday, March 1, begins the Christian observance of Lent. Newman club is sponsoring a Mass at 12:05 pm in SUB Banquet Room A-131, just inside the First Street entrance and to the left. Fr. Eric Haarer, Carmelite from Crestone, will preside at the liturgy and distribute ashes. The plan is to have all of us out within 50 minutes. All are welcome!

Welcome, students! Sacred Heart Catholic Church is located on Fourth and Edison, near downtown. It is an inclusive, multicultural community. adams.edu John Carl “JC” Henderson was recently accepted into the Merchant Marine Academy. He majored in mathematics at Adams State University prior to applying. “I definitely feel like my skills in math and science were greatly enhanced and solidified at Adams State.”

Since I recorded this, I learned that Bishop Robert Lynch of St. Petersburg had expressed his condolences to the LGBT community and Bishop David Zubik of PIttsburgh had asked for prayers for gays and lesbians.
Update 6/14: Bishop Robert McElroy of San Diego expressed sympathy for the LGBT communities and spoke out against homophobia, and Bishop Stowe of Lexington inveighed against homophobia.

A service in honor of Middle Passage will be held Thursday (Oct 29) at 6:00 p.m. in the Student Union building at Adams State University. Please share. It isn't often these days that we come in contact with those who are willing to live and die for their beliefs and for the good of our country in the way that this great man did.
