Our eighth "Forward Thinking" organization is High Hopes Education Intervention in Ada, MN. High Hopes offers consultation, screening, and tutoring services for individuals of all ages who struggle with dyslexia and reading disabilities in Ada, MN, Norman County, and the surrounding area. Earlier this year, the City Council in nearby Hendrum, MN, approved a lease agreement with High Hopes that paves the way for the nonprofit organization to open a reading and dyslexia center in the former Norman County West elementary school building.

Parents can make a big difference in improving the reading skills of a child diagnosed with dyslexia. Because you are most aware of your child's strengths and weaknesses, you can focus on learning strategies that will work best for him or her. With young children, playing alphabet games and reading rhyming books, for example, while offering support and encouragement, might greatly improve reading skills. Staying involved with your child's education throughout the school years will be a key part of your child's success.

We are a non-profit, Orton-Gillingham based, Dyslexia and reading disability center.

BEST Dyslexia Blogs, Websites, and Resources - Focus and Read

I share this a little reluctantly. The reason being that blogs are a single person's story, DO NOT try to bend it to be YOUR story. (I mean that in the nicest way possible.) Every child is different in what they are going through, each one will develop at their own rate. We can not make things happen faster than they are meant to. Take comfort in the fact that you are not alone, this affects 1 in 5 individuals plus the countless people that love them and watch them struggle.

My advice: CATCH IT EARLY! It will not get better in 2nd grade or 3rd grade, it will not be better in high school. If in doubt call us, the visit is free and confidential.
