As we celebrate this holiday season at Big Steps Little Feet, we would like to highlight one of our staff who has hit quite the milestone! Ms. Becky has been a part of our BSLF Family for 20 years this month! She began her career as an assistant teacher, taught for many years as a lead preschool teacher, and is now rockin' the title of Assistant Director. Congratulations on 20 YEARS, Ms. Becky! We appreciate you and are so grateful for you!

We are honored to remember Ryan Marsman today as a past Big Steps student as we promote bike safety by passing out bike flags. He passed away on this day four years ago and his memorial tree was dedicated later that summer.
Our classes also honored Ryan’s memory by enjoying his favorite popsicles (Bomb Pops) at snack time today.

Big Steps Little Feet will have a delayed opening timeframe of 8:30am tomorrow, Thursday, February 23rd. Breakfast will be served from 8:30-9:00am. The ice storm warning is set to expire in the early hours tomorrow and we are hopeful by this timeframe the roads will be more safe for both staff and families. The Big Steps Little Feet Leadership Team includes: Ms. Amy, our Center Director, was the original director in 1994 and returned in 2019 after raising her six children. Ms. Becky was a lead teacher with our preschoolers before becoming the Assistant Director and has been with BSLF for 19 years. Ms. Jessica, our Director of Operations, entrusted her first child to Big Steps as a parent and joined our lead team 4 years ago. Ms. Holly is our Executive Assistant and Human Resources Manager. She has been a part of our lead team since 2018.
Mr. Rob, together with his wife, Annette, founded BSLF 28 years ago to provide parents with a safe, nurturing, Christian environment to teach and care for our children, our future generation.
Together, we are grateful for all of the support from our amazing staff and families we partner with at Big Steps Little Feet. We hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving week! Today we are thankful for:
Ms. Zoe is one of our support staff. She is in her first year at BSLF! You will find her mainly in our Toddler and Young 3’s classrooms. She is currently in her senior year at Covenant Christian High School. Ms. Zoe’s current plan for college is to focus on social work and child development. She truly believes children are some of the most fun, silly, creative, intelligent, and sweet souls she has met and loves that she can share these moments with the children here at BSLF.
Fun fact: Ms. Zoe’s favorite activity is traveling!
Ms. Tori is an Assistant Teacher. You will find her helping with our Preschoolers. Ms. Tori is in her first year at Big Steps. She has Bachelors in Psychology and has worked as a Registered Behavioral Technician for more than four years. She brings fun and creative ideas to the classroom and is eager to help nurture young minds so that they can reach their fullest potential. When not at BSLF, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 month old son.
Fun fact: Ms. Tori’s favorite restaurant is Carrabba’s!
Ms. Theresa is our Kitchen Manager. She has been a part of the BSLF team for nine years! Ms. Theresa has her Training & Development Certificate and her Safe Serve Certificate. She thanks God for being a part of this opportunity to live out the mission of BSLF. She has enjoyed being able to serve these children, our future generation. When she is not at BSLF, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Fun fact: Ms. Theresa’s favorite dessert is ice cream!

Happy snowy Friday! Today we would like to thank:
Ms. Sue is one of our support staff. She has been with the BSLF team for over a year! Ms. Sue previously worked in a public schools district for 21 years. In her time there, she worked as a paraprofessional for 13 years and 8 years at an early childcare and learning center. When she is not at Big Steps she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren. She feels very blessed with her family and feels doubly blessed to be working with the beautiful children at Big Steps!.
Fun fact: Ms. Sue’s favorite store is Bath & Body Works!
Ms. Olivia is one of our support staff. She has been a part of the Big Steps team for over a year and a half! Ms. Olivia is currently studying psychology at Grand Rapids Community College. She feels very blessed that she gets to witness the progress every child makes while they are at BSLF. In her free time she likes to journal, listen to music and hangout with her loved ones.
Fun fact: Ms. Olivia’s favorite candy is Sour Patch Kids!
Ms. Maddie is one of our support staff. She is in her first year with BSLF. MS. Maddie is currently studying Exercise Science at Grand Valley State University in downtown Grand Rapids.She plans on furthering her education to get her masters in occupational therapy, specializing in pediatrics. She is a very outgoing and positive person and is always trying to bring energy and excitement into the classroom. Ms. Maddie loves hiking, kayaking, going to the beach, and anything else that brings her outdoors.
Fun fact: Ms. Maddie’s favorite holiday is Christmas!

Ms. Emily is our Lead Teacher in the Responsible Raccoons classroom. She has been a part of the Big Steps team for seven years! Ms. Emily has taught in many different age groups in her time here. She graduated from Spring Arbor University with an Associates Degree in Art, concentration of Photography & also minored in Business and Psychology. Ms. Emily is thrilled to continue doing what she loves, teaching our future generation how to be the best they can be! The outdoors is her favorite place to be while spending time with her two puppies.
Fun fact: Ms. Emily’s favorite candy is Kit-Kats.
Ms. Darlene is our Assistant Teacher in the Responsible Raccoons classroom. She has been a part of the Big Steps team for sixteen years! Ms. Darlene has had many roles in her time here. Her favorite part of the day is doing science experiments with the children and seeing their reactions when they observe what happens. When not at BSLF, she enjoys reading, drawing & painting and volunteering at F.R.O.M.
Fun fact: Ms. Darlene’s favorite restaurant is Papa K’s.

Happy Monday! Today we are thankful for:
Ms. Catie is our Lead Teacher in the Joyful Jaguar classroom. She has been teaching with BSLF for over two years! She graduated from Kuyper College in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Bible and Theology and Communication, with an emphasis on Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. After graduating, Ms. Catie decided she wanted to pursue education, so she obtained her teaching certificate through Grand Valley State University. In her spare time, Ms. Catie enjoys camping with family and friends.
Fun fact: Ms. Catie’s favorite store is Target!
Ms. Amanda is our Lead Teacher in the Patient Penguins classroom. She has been a part of the Big Steps team for over three years! Ms. Amanda has her general Associate's Degree from GRCC and completed her Child Development Associate in 2021. She found her calling at Big Steps and just knew this was the path for her. When she is not teaching she enjoys spending time with her nephews and niece, her family & her kitties and dogs.
Fun fact: Ms. Amanda’s favorite dessert is chocolate chip cookies!

Ms. Heather is our Lead Teacher in the Trustworthy Turtles classroom. She has been teaching with BSLF for three years! Ms. Heather has received her Early Childhood certification, Infant/Toddler certification, mindfulness training, ACEs training, Sensory Processing Certification, and am currently attending WGU for my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education specializing in Special Education. In her spare time she enjoys gardening and traveling with her family to explore new areas in Michigan.
Fun fact: Ms. Heather’s favorite animal is a hedgehog!
Ms. Kendra is our Lead Teacher in our Courageous Cubs classroom. She has been a part of the Big Steps team for two years! She attended Spring Arbor University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Kendra enjoys helping children learn through experiences. It brings joy to her when they smile because they have learned something new. In her down time she enjoys reading.
Fun fact: Ms. Kedra’s favorite dessert is brownies!

Ms. Rebekah is our Bible Story Teacher and support staff. She has been a part of the Big Steps team for five years! Ms. Rebekah has a degree from Cornerstone University in Elementary Education. She grew up listening to her mother’s bible stories and has always wanted to follow in her footsteps. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her own five children at home.
Fun fact: Ms. Rebekah’s favorite season is Autumn!
Ms. Madelynn is a support staff in our toddler rooms. She is in her first year at BSLF. Ms. Madelynn has worked with many children in all age groups in the past. She is very caring and energetic! Ms. Madelynn is currently studying exercise science at Grand Valley State University. In her spare time, she enjoys going swimming, going on walks, watching movies and going to the beach.
Fun fact: Ms. Madelynn’s favorite drink is peach tea!
Ms. Bethany is one of our Preschool Lead Teachers and is currently helping in our Enthusiastic Elephants classroom. She has been a part of the BSLF team for a year! Ms. Bethany has a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education as well as Elementary Education and minors in both Mathematics and Science. She feels so honored to be your child’s care provider as we explore God’s world around us! As a mom of three, Ms. Bethany enjoys her time spent with her children.
Fun fact: Ms. Bethany’s favorite restaurant is Fruition!
Ms. Heather is our Lead Teacher in the Cheerful Chipmunks classroom. She has been teaching with Big Steps for eleven years! She has Bachelor’s Degree in Language Arts (Elementary Education) with an Early Childhood Minor as well as a ZA endorsement in Early Childhood Certification. Ms. Heather loves helping children learn and grow in a faith-based, fun-loving environment! In her spare time, Ms. Heather enjoys making balloon animals with her sister for charity events!
Fun fact: Ms. Heather’s favorite store is Barnes & Noble!
Ms. Kasey is an Assistant Teacher in our Elephant and Chipmunks classrooms. She is in her first year here at BSLF. For the last 10 years, she has worked in the mental health industry and is now a Registered Behavioral Technician. She enjoys spending time with her four children and nephew. Ms. Kasey loves outdoor activities including boating, camping, rodeos and trail riding with her horses. She is excited to use her knowledge of behavioral science to encourage and support the children of Big Steps Little Feet!
