A School of Belonging

A School of Belonging is a social culture building process that promotes an emotionally safe learning community.

A School of Belonging creates school cultures that foster empathic relationships, emotional safety, and real world learning between students, teachers, school leaders, parents and the community.

Mission: Advocating for a shift in K-12 education from standardized testing as the sole metric for measuring effective instruction, A School of Belonging is developing a more holistic approach to evaluating quality education that takes into account the social, emotional and leadership skills necessary for student success in the 21st Century.

[12/29/14]   The fundamental difference between creating and problem solving is simple. In problem solving we seek to make something we do not like go away. In creating, we seek to make what we truly care about exist.

Take a listen and then read Paul Tough's book How Children Succeed.

thisamericanlife.org As kids and teachers head back to school, we wanted to turn away from questions about politics and unions and money and all the regular school stuff people argue about, and turn to something more optimistic — an emerging theory about what to teach kids, from Paul Tough's new book
