On 9/4/14, I was informed that the position of Head Basketball Coach for the Northern Lady Huskies had been awarded to a Board of Ed employee, who had applied for the position during the mandatory posting period.

I would like to thank all of my past and present players, coaches, and their families, for the support and dedication over the past 4 years. I would also like to thank the program sponsors, fans, school administration and dedicated volunteers, who so willingly contributed time and resources for the good of the program.

Best of luck to Coach Jason Brenneman and the Lady Huskies as the program moves forward.

[07/31/14]   The Lady Huskies will be at the Northern Athletics Booster's booth on Friday (8/1) starting about 5 pm. Please visit us for your craving of hamburgers, bacon cheese burgers, etc, and most of all, funnel cakes. We hope to see you there!

[06/05/14]   Attention Lady Huskies Participating in the Berlin Summer Basketball League:

The Lady Husky Soccer Coach, Ashli Myers, will be holding an Alternate Player/Parent Soccer Meeting for girls participating in the Berlin Basketball League. The meeting will be held on Thursday, 6/12, directly after school (315pm), in Ms Myer's classroom. Please plan on attending.

Note that the basketball games scheduled for 6/12 are at 7p and 8p. This should provide everyone with plenty of time to get to Berlin.

We would like to give a big thank you to Ms. Myers for providing the basketball girls with a alternate meeting so they can participate in their League Games on 6/5.

[03/03/14]   The Lady Huskies' Tuesday night playoff game time has been changed to 7:45 pm.

[03/03/14]   The Lady Huskies advanced to the Regional Quarter Final Playoff Round with a decisive win over Hancock on Saturday, 53-25. The Huskies will travel to Southern High School to take on the Southern Rams on Tuesday (3/4/14). Tip off is 7 pm - We hope to see you there.

[03/01/14]   The Lady Huskies emerged with 3 wins and 1 loss last week and then a win over Bishop Walsh Spartand this oast Wednesday. The Huskies start their play off run on March 1 when they return to the Igloo to take on Hancock. Game time is 4 pm. Hope to see you there.

It is Senior night at the Igloo. We wish our 6 Seniors all the best of luck with their futures. We know they will succeed because they have shown they work hard, give it all they got and never give up. Coach Dave has been with these girls since the end of 6th grade when they came together on one team. Best of luck, Seniors, in all you do and don't forget to check in with the Lady Huskies once in awhile. We will miss you!

[02/16/14]   Hope everyone is enjoying the snow but the Lady Huskies have had enough.

The Lady Huskies return home to the Igloo on Monday, Feb 17, 2014, to take on the Frankfort Falcons. JV action starts at 6pm follow by Varsity at 7:30 pm. The Lady Huskies will be sporting their PINK to bring awareness to breast cancer.
Put on your PINK and come support the Lady Huskies.

The Huskies will celebrate Senior Night on Tuesday, Feb 18, when they take on the Moorefield Yellow Jackets. Come out and than these dedicated Seniors for the hard work and excitement that they have brought to the Igloo.

The Huskies finish out their home stand on Thursday, Feb 20, when they take on the Petersburg Vikings before traveling to Ft Hill on Saturday, Feb 22. The games at Ft Hill are schedule for 11 am for JV and 12:30 pm for Varsity.

Come out and support the Lady Huskies as they come down the home stretch.

[01/24/14]   Big happenings next week for the Lady Huskies. The week kicks off with a home game on Monday (1/27) vs Bishop Walsh. The Lady Huskies will be rockin' their "Pink" to help bring awareness to Breast Cancer. Please join the Lady Huskies and wear your pink to raise awareness to this dreaded disease.

The Lady Huskies will also be welcoming the area Youth, Dribblers and Tri-County basketball players as their guest on Monday night. All players sporting their team shirts or Huskies Blue and Gold will be admitted free of charge. The 8th grade Tri-County girls will be featured at halftime of the varsity game. Come check out the future of Husky basketball.

The Huskies will hold their annual t-shirt give-a-way night at the Igloo on Wednesday (1/29) when they take on the Southern Rams. The doors open at 5 pm and the first 100 Husky fans will receive a free "Ambush at the Igloo" t-shirt.

The week wraps up with the Lady Huskies traveling to take on the Moorefield Yellow Jackets on Friday (1/31).

Please come out and support these young ladies who are working hard to represent Northern Garrett High School and their community.

Big Thank You to those that participated in the Huskies Fighting Hunger at Home Food Drive. The Huskies delivered 7 boxes of food into the Northern Community. The Lady Huskies would like to extend a special thank you to the Mtn Ridge Lady Miners and their parents and fans for helping to support the Huskies Fighting Hunger at Home Food Drive.

[01/11/14]   All Lady Husky Alumni Basketball Players and Coaches are invited to attend Monday's (1/13) game vs the Allegany Campers as our guests of honor. All Alumni will be admitted for free and duly recognized at center court at half time. There will be an alumni sign-in sheet at the admission table.

The Ladies Huskies Basketball program would like to thank you for paving the way for today's Lady Huskies to prosper. We would also like to thank you for the proud traditions and standards that you have set. We look forward to seeing you on Monday night!!

[01/05/14]   The Lady Huskies hope to score big at the Igloo next week. The Lady Huskies have 3 home games as they square off against Preston (1/6), Frankfort (1/7) and Keyser (1/9). All players will be recognizing their favorite teachers (Elementary, Middle or High School) at center court between the JV and Varsity games on Thursday night.

Watch for Super Bowl squares as the Lady Huskies wrap up their final fund-raiser of the season. Squares costs $10 and numbers will be drawn on Thursday, January 30, 2014. If you are interested in getting in on the fun, let us know or buy one from your favorite Lady Husky.

[12/27/13]   The Lady Huskies hope you had a very Merry Christmas.
They will be playing tonight, taking on Berlin at the Berlin Holiday Basketball Tournament. JV is scheduled to play at 6 pm and Varsity follows at 7:45 pm. Hope to see you there!!

[12/14/13]   The Lady Huskies picked up their first win of the season last night 32-26 over Bishop Walsh. Rhiannon Dodge lead all scorers with 11, followed by Ashley Murphy with 8. Emma Edwards received the Tenacious Tiger Award from her teammates for outstanding effort and for leading the way defensively.
Tonight the Huskies travel to Keyser, West Virginia to take on the Keyser Golden Tornados. Note that game times are 5:00pm for JV followed by Varsity at 6:30pm.
On Monday (12/16), the Huskies travel to take on the Frankfort Falcons.
Finally, on Wednesday 12/18, the road trip ends and the Lady Huskies play host to the Fort Hill Senitels in their home opener.

[12/06/13]   The Lady Huskies are set for tip-off tonight against the Preston County Knights in Kingwood, WV. JV action starts at 545pm followed by the Varsity match up at 730pm.

The Lady Huskies travel to Allegany to take on the Campers on Saturday, Dec 7, 2013. JV tip off is at 1pm followed by Varsity at 230pm.

[10/30/13]   Our very own Kaitlyn Fratz (Northern Graduate - 2011) takes to the court tonight as her California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans take on the #7 ranked Fighting Irish of Norte Dame in a pre-season game. Wow - how exciting that must be - Go get 'em Kaitlyn!!!

Youth Basketball Clinic
Presented by the Northern Lady Husky Basketball Team

Who: Boys and Girls in grades 3 through 8

All boys and girls in grades 3 through 8 are invited to attend an action-packed basketball clinic at Northern High School. Emphasis will be placed on fun and fundamentals. Skill work will include:
Dribbling Foul Shooting
Shooting Lay-Ups
Ball Handling Rules & Concepts
Passing Footwork
Defense

Each night will feature fun competitions and gift certificate give-a-ways from Personal Best Athletics. All participants will receive a free pass to attend a Lady Husky’s basketball game of their choice. Registration will begin at 5:30 pm on November 11, 2013.

[10/17/13]   Coaching Announcements:
Deb Ignat has announced today, that she has stepped down as the Lady Husky J.V. Basketball Coach due to a recent career commitment. The Lady Huskies would like to thank Deb for her service and dedication to the Lady Husky Basketball Program.

Effective immediately, Shaun Peck has been appointed to the JV Head Coach position. Shaun has been assisting with the Northern Girls' Tri-County Basketball program and we are happy to have him join the high school program. Shaun brings a lot of excitement and basketball knowledge to the program, as well as a strong passion for the game.

Effective immediately, Jody Pebble has joined the Northern Lady Huskies as a Varsity Assistant. Jody brings with her a wealth of basketball knowledge, to include over 20 years of coaching at the collegiate level. Most recently, Jody served as the Women's Head Basketball Coach at Frostburg State University. The Lady Huskies look forward to utilizing Jody's keen insight, experience and knowledge to help move the program to the next level.

[10/09/13]   Any girl interested in playing JV or Varsity Basketball this winter is invited to attend a brief meeting in the high school cafeteria at 3:00pm on 10/18/13. This applies to both New and Returning players. You must have your teacher's approval in order to attend.

Open Gyms for Girl's Basketball Players (New and Returning) are being held in the Auxiliary Gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm. Athletes participating in a Fall sport must have their coach's permission to attend.

Basketball practice begins November 15, 2013 and all girls must have a physical prior to participating. If you are currently playing a fall sport, you will not need to obtain a new physical.

Please make sure that you are in "basketball shape" prior to the November 15th practice.

[01/15/13]   What a game the Ladies have tonight. Tough game played by both ALCO and the HusKies. It came to the wire but the Huskies pulled out a win with the final score 37 NHS to 33 ALCO. CONGRATULATIONS Lady Huskies, you earned it. Now let's get ready for the Gold Rush against Southern.

[12/28/12]   The Lady Huskies are on the road for their Christmas tournament at Winters Mill High School. Hope they have fun, enjoy the experience and play hard! They return for a game at the Igloo on January 2 where all youth league basketball players will be admitted free. Hope to see you there. Wishing everyone a happy new year!

[12/04/12]   The Lady Huskies have been working hard to prepare for the 2012-2013 season. There have been some ups and downs in the preseason, but everything is coming together for the home opener versus Allegany on Thursday (12/6). JV starts at 6pm followed by Varsity at approximately 730pm.
Our team slogan is, "All Out - All Game - All Season," and that is exactly what you can expect. If you like fast-moving, high flying offense combined by tenatious, "in-your-face," defense, you will enjoy Lady Husky basketball. We are looking forward to a big season and we hope that you will be part of it.

[11/11/12]   The Lady Huskies would like to give a big thank you to the Frostburg State University Lady's Basketball team for coming to Northern to conduct a basketball clinic on Friday. There was a lot of excitement in the gym and it was a great way to kick off the seasonl!
All Out - All Game - All Season!!!!

Well ladies, there is no easing into this basketball season. We have Allegany at home on Thursday, Dec 6th, followed by Frankfort at home on Saturday, Dec 8th. This is then followed by a stretch of 5 games in 8 days all before Christmas.

Much of our season will be defined before Christmas so lets be ready and hit the ground running. If you are not already, try to get a ball in your hand; get running; and get on the weights!!

[09/18/12]   It is Diehl's Ford Drive One for Your School event time. Join the Lady Huskies on Saturday, September 29, 0212, sometime between 9 am and 2 pm to take a no-pressure test drive.
The Lady Huskies will be selling apple and bananna bowls drizzled with carmel and nuts, if you like, along with apple cider. They will also be taking orders for exclusive Husky Fan Wear, which will be on display.
Please note that Northern High School receives $20 for every test drive adn the Lady Huskies will receive a portion of those test drives.
Come out and support Northern High School and your Lady Huskies!!! See you there!

[08/03/12]   The Huskies ended the YMCA season at 5 wins and 7 losses and sent the message that they will be a force to be reckoned with this year. Coach Dave Monahan point out, "I saw a lot of good, good basketball this summer and I look forward to helping bring everything together. With the way the girls played, I do not think that we will sneak up on anyone this year. I am sure that the message was sent that you better bring your A-game when you play Northern. I am expecting a lot of excitement in the gym this season."
A special thank you to the three freshman who stepped up and helped Varsity compete this summer at the "Y", Emily Parandhamaia, Emma Edwards and Sarah Holtschneider. "These e freshman were with us every step of the way. They were fearless and hard working and I look forward to watching these girls flourish in our program," said Coach Monahan.
