Given that the world is opening back up and we have more freedom to be with one another, I am thinking about organizing a trail ride in Taos, NM.

Trying to get a sense who may be interested in coming along for a ride with me! They offer hourly, half/full day rides with lunch high in the mountains and a sunset ride....... let me know and I can make this happen!

Please take a few minutes to read this. It's important work that is being done for the Wild Horses.

This is a very important post for me to write. It's for the horses and to give credit and thanks.

This year we decided to do what isn't normally done. We saw all the division and separation and lack of unity and fighting. And we realized that the horse rescue world is unable to do the best we all could do, being fragmented, in competition and divided. It has been so traditional to work alone and guard followers and donors as if there is only so much to go around.

We felt the only way to change that was to come from a place of abundance and not fear. To extend our hand to other rescues and sanctuaries and work side by side for the good of horses in whatever endeavor. We knew that this issue of Adoption Incentive Program mustangs landing in Kill Pens in record numbers was not something any ONE organization could tackle alone.

More than anything we wanted to do all we could to bring groups together as we believe all ships rise in the tide and that working with, highlighting, promoting and partnering with other organizations would help us all.

Most of all it would help the horses we all love and care for.

Years of in-fighting or competition between groups and people have created this normality of bashing other rescues or people or organizations. We chose not to ever do that when we started Skydog, to be the change we wanted to see and have risen above the noise and fray and never engaged with the nastiness or fought back or joined in. Never giving them oxygen has been the path we chose and we are so proud of that as LOVE WINS.

This year we realized we had to do more than just not speak badly of others, we had to raise the bar and decided to see what would happen if we reached out to work with others and post their fundraisers, share their projects, ask for help with some of these babies and see if we could forge lasting cooperative relationships with people also working for the good of wild horses. And what an outstanding result.

We worked with Sandra Williamson and German Mustang Makeover for the first large group of 12 AIP babies we rescued from a kill pen to be TIP trained and many have found homes in Europe already.

We worked with Mustang Acres Farm in Michigan who coordinated an incredible effort to get a large number of AIP baby mustangs to New York. Anne Cunningham took in eleven at her farm and is still adopting and fostering some until the right homes are found. Janet at Mustang Acres Michigan also took a BLM Burro and a mare who will arrive with her next week.

We asked 3rd Coast Sanctuary in Michigan to take an old boy who needed a ton of love and care and they said yes and Frank is heading there next week too.

We reached out to Colorado sanctuaries Great Escape Mustang Sanctuary and Engler Canyon Ranch and are working with both to give some kill pen horses soft landings and bright futures. GEMS is currently introducing the three babies they took on their social media. And two very wild older horses are heading to the beautiful lands of Engler Ranch to run free again forever.

Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue in California said yes to five babies, who will arrive with them after they finish quarantine. They are in Colorado with our wonderful hauler Carla Lays who is taking care of them for now.

This week we worked alongside Candace Ray at Evanescent Mustang Sanctuary to pull off the biggest save with 24 horses intercepted at Auction - we asked our followers to head over and help by donating and you did ❤️🙏 The American Wild Horse Campaign also donated to help the 24 and we are working together to get the evidence to give to the BLM and congress to defund this program.

Private individuals also reached out and offered these horses homes, private funding and training and we have two to introduce soon who are offering great futures to some more saves.

In total over sixty horses have been saved and placed, most of them victims of the BLM Adoption Incentive Program, dumped once the adopters had taken the money that came with them.

Sometimes it takes a real disaster to bring people together and maybe this is the one that has finally brought us together, united against this “pay to slay” subsidy to slaughter program. United we are stronger and louder and we can move mountains.

We are so happy to meet so many of our comrades in arms and not one single group said NO when asked to help.

This is what we need in the world today. It would have been so easy to assume they wouldn't help or want to work together but we reached out anyway. We have been working with some amazing individuals like Sioux Sarlis behind the scenes, as well as Mae Martini from Salvation Wild Mustang Sanctuary Corp - gathering titles and brand photos and collating them to represent the horrifying numbers of these babies landing in Kill Pens this year.

We stand united and we believe this is the key to a bright future for this world and the world in general. Focusing on our similarities and shared goals rather than our differences. And this post like many before, is NOT to take any credit, rather to give it to all these amazing groups, people and organizations.

We salute you and are honored to work beside you and partner with you FOR THE HORSES. Please follow and support them as they take on these new horses ❤️

Next year it is our goal to also unite with groups who are working individually to try and get the SAFE Act passed. We WANT to join together and our challenge for 2021 is to create a letter with all of our logos on, in support of the SAFE Act when its re-introduced in January - to take to Congress and a new administration and get this through.

We can do it. The opposition profits and wins by dividing us but this is the year we will come together and triumph for the horses and stop American Mustangs and all horses from shipping to slaughter for good.

Skydog and This Mustang Life are joining together again to make another movie to promote passing the SAFE Act and to expose the AIP for what it is. Our last short film won numerous film awards this year to raise awareness and educate people and we think this is THE year to get this bill on the floor and through the House and Senate.

If you would like to join us lets do it together - we know how many orgs would love to take the credit for getting it passed - but what if we all shared in it together. Not me but WE get this legislation passed.

SO if you would like to reach out to us to join together - either to help save more AIP babies or to Pass The SAFE Act email [email protected] The last post we did like this asking for help led to all these babies being saved.

Let's hit 2021 running LIKE the horses, WITH the horses, FOR the horses.

We CAN bring change for them if we all work together ❤️❤️

Below are the photos of just some of the mustangs we have all helped save and rescue TOGETHER ♥️❤️

Already over 80,000 people have signed our petition against the BLM Adoption Incentive Program - please sign it if you haven’t already 🙏

[07/10/20]   Who left the gate open? That was my question the other day, as we got a call from our neighbor letting us know all of our herd were happily grazing in her river front pasture.

We ran into high gear and of course it started to pour outside! We live in the high desert, so this was rather interesting. Anyway, off we go.. with 2 separate plans as my husband and I didn't gather up and share our thoughts.

I am inches away from one of the horses and all is going well....until he lets out a loud whistle and of course they go running all directions. So, it seemed.

I am now just about to strangle him as he walks up and with a sweet smile, and said "well, that didn't work". Little did he know, I was cussing him out and seriously considering changing the locks on the gate!! Man, was I one ticked off wild woman!

The horses continue to run around, getting our neighbors horses riled up, it was quite the chaotic scene. I let my "what if's" rule my mind and of course I made matters worse. It was like a circus.

So, off he goes, just moseying around looking for the horses. Finally, I see him coming out of the trees with our lead mare and the rest of the herd are following like well behaved kids ready to go home. I walked behind the herd to keep them moving and yes, we all made it home alive!

So, my questions for you are: What do you do when life becomes chaotic, what happens to you when you don't communicate what you need, how do you handle the unknown and how do you celebrate when all calms down?

Please do share. I would love to know.

Are you curious how horses and art can draw you closer to feeling inspired again?

Join me and artist extraordinaire Tiffani Gyatso and meet your new heart-centered sisters at Rancho de la Osa from November 9th - 14th, 2020

Because we have all had to shift and pivot due to the Pandemic, I am extending the Early Bird Special Discount through May 15th, 2020 ~ only 2 spots left! https://www.healingthroughhorses.com/rancho-de-la-osa-sept-2020/

05/07/2020

I've been thinking about us... I have missed my sisters and our heart-centered gatherings. How about you? Do you desire connection and are more than ready to set time aside for yourself?

Many of us have been separated from loved ones and others have lost loved ones. The feelings of anxiety, anger, fear, grief, isolation, loneliness and depression can be overwhelming.

In the mist of this chaos, my horses remind me of how to gracefully handle shifts and challenges. Watching their reactions when there is a dramatic change in the herd is powerful; their entire way of being evolves for a period of time and they are my best teachers.

Human beings are not that different from horses. We both need to know we have enough and we are cared for in the best way that exists in this moment. All we need to do is to circle up, stand together and allow the collective energy to move us forward.

That's why I have created A Woman's Journey of Empowerment Through an Equine Inspired Art Retreat at Rancho de la Osa in Sasabe, Arizona November 9th - 14th, 2020.

Come join me, and give yourself the gift of rejuvenation and celebration of making it though a very challenging time in your life!! Grab your spot now: https://www.healingthroughhorses.com/rancho-de-la-osa-sept-2020/

Feeling anxious, scared, exhausted, lonely, isolated and even a bit depressed?

*Create a Daily Self Care Experience for Yourself.

You can do this anytime - morning, noon or night. It's important you create this for yourself everyday.
- Run a hot bath with Epsom Salts and your favorite soothing essential oil. The intention is for you to detox your body, allow yourself to relax and be better prepared for what is next.
If you don' t have a bathtub, use a hot wash cloth, place a few drops of essential on it and place it over your face. Do this laying down on your bed or favorite spot that is easy to access.
- Go outside if you can. If not, open your windows and get some fresh air. Sit on your balcony, if you have ear plugs put them in and close your eyes. Savor the quietness for just a few moments and exhale.

Experiment a bit with this. Use whatever works and create your own self care rituals. Please remember YOU are getting through this time the best you can.

04/08/2020

I've been thinking of different ways to bring more of a "new normal" into my life and the lives of the women I have been lucky enough to have known through our Equine Inspired Wellness Retreats for Women as well as those who I have not yet met.

What can you do in these times of uncertainty to help maintain your momentum? What does this mean for us as women? How can you meet the basic needs of your family and for yourself?

Think like a horse and pivot! If you've ever seen a horse run, they look where they're going and have a plan.

That is what you're being asked to do, however, it may be nearly impossible to do if you are feeling anxious, scared, exhausted, lonely, isolated and even a bit depressed.

Stay tuned for tips on "Self Care in Times of Uncertainty".
