The Summer Food Service Program is off to an excellent start! The program offers a free lunch for all children, ages 1 through 18, from Mon., June 3rd, through Fri., July 26th. Lunches are served from 11:30am-12:30pm at McKinley Elementary School. No registration, no proof of income, no proof of age required.
TONIGHT - AMS Night of the Stars.
Students can arrive at the car pick up location (behind Burger King) starting at 4:45pm. Dinner starts at 5:30, with the faculty performances and dance to follow. As long as it is dry between 4:45-5:30, we will hold the walk-in in front of school as usual. If it is raining, we will bring the viewing party inside to the 6th and 7th grade halls. The evening will finish up at 9:00. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to call AMS at 263-1471.

The AMS NCKL track meet scheduled for this afternoon @ Concordia, 05/07/19, has been cancelled due to the weather forecast.
This meet has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 14th starting at 10am.

JV golf to be played in Wamego on Thursday has been rescheduled for April 23rd.
Due to forecasted weather, today’s varsity track to be ran at Chapman today has been rescheduled for Monday, April 1st. Varsity baseball has been rescheduled for Friday, April 12 and JV and varsity softball has also been rescheduled for Monday, April 22.
Our new track and field record board came in today! It is one of the updates we are adding to our AMS gym! Stay tuned for our next update that should arrive in April!
[03/22/19] Another good tournament in the books for the AHS Forensics Team at Newton! H. McMillen took 1st in prose, qualifying to state, and 6th in impromptu and M. Mazo took 3rd in humorous interpretation!
McKinley kids partnered with Family Video to raise money for lyphoma. Our class raised 6,456 pennies! The kids were excited to raise money to help others and are looking forward to a class party provided by Family Video!

AHS Debate and Forensics did great @ Clay Center Saturday! J. Welsh & M. Meneley 1st in duet acting, J. Welsh 1st in impromptu and 2nd in prose, M. Meneley 3rd in poetry and poi, G. Griffith 4th in Poetry and 6th in dramatic, D. Delay 5th in poi, and H. Delay 5th in impromptu.
Final game for the Cowgirls as they fell short against Nickerson 46-54 last night in the opening round of the state tournament. What a season! The future of Cowgirl basketball is bright!
Ron Preston was presented the Iscar Stauffer Sportswriter of the Year Award last night!
Spring Break begins tomorrow!! We hope students, teachers, staff and their families have a safe and wonderful time during this break.
School resumes Monday, March 18th.
Tonight the AHS Jazz Band, Concert Band, Indoor Drumline and Wind Ensemble will perform. There will be everything from Super Hip Funk to playing along with a Viking Adventure Video like a movie score, and many more twists and turns! TONIGHT at 7:00pm in the AHS Auditorium. You don't want to miss it!
Afterwards, tickets will be available to purchase, $15 each, for the Jazz Dinner Dance on March 22nd. This event includes the AMS and AHS Jazz Bands and, for the first time ever, an Alumni Band!

[02/26/19] AMS "Middle School 101" is this Thursday, February 28th, at 7pm in the Media Center. Mrs. Wilkins will discuss how to spot the signs of teenage depression. Please join us for this important topic.
[02/26/19] The Forensics Team of Abilene High School is hosting a shoe drive. We are looking for donations of new or gently used shoes. This fundraiser will help us attend the National Tournament this year. If you have any shoes you are willing to donate to us, just let us know!

State bound!! Congrats to the Abilene Scholars Bowl team for placing 4th at the Winfield Regional and qualifying for the 4A State Scholars Bowl tournament! They will be heading to Wellington High School on Saturday, Feb. 9th.
[01/22/19] Good morning, this is to make you aware that due to pending weather and travel conditions, we will be closing Abilene Public schools two hours early today. Buses will run their normal routes just two hours earlier, including shuttles to each of the buildings. Additionally, all after school activities, including scheduled athletic events and practices, are cancelled. ABC after school program is also cancelled for the day. Parents of students in any school may choose to pick up their students prior to 1:00, and high school students who drive will be excused to leave early if parents make contact with the high school office.

[01/21/19] On Monday, January 21, 2019, The Abilene Board of Education officially approved Mr. Greg Brown as the new USD #435 Superintendent. Mr. Brown will take his position effective July 1, 2019.
