The Arrow Center for Education Riverside, has a relationship with the TechBrick Education robotics team, First Tech Challenge. First Tech Challenge then connected us with Survice Engineering Company, to see if they could support any needs.

Tim Farmer represented Survice Engineering Company on June 3rd, when he dropped off a donation-- a robotics kit to be used by Tech Club at the school! We give our thanks to Survice Engineering Company for this donation, and to First Tech Challenge for connecting us. You are both amazing partners and the students will be both excited and enriched by these new resources!

So we find a first Lego League team with an awesome name at the Virginia state first Lego League championship

We are a NE MD community-oriented NPO (501c3) providing 1st-12th grade students robotics and engineering learning opportunities through hands-on student-led teams, multiple levels of FIRST competition, and STEM outreach demonstrations.

Techbrick Education grew out of Techbrick Robotics, formed in 2004 with a free monthly LEGO club for homeschoolers. From that initial group we formed our first FIRST FLL team. Since then, the programs have expanded to include many FLL, Jr FLL, FTC, and FRC teams, all centered around competitions under FIRST. Today, students can participate at any level from 1st through 12th grade, across 3 primary

Do you have a middle or high schooler interested in learning about robotics, but no time to commit to a full competition team or anything crazy like that?
You might consider looking into this program. It specifically runs during the school Winter Break, and is totally at-home DIY remote learning... so location doesn't really even matter.

If you're interested but have questions, or maybe even want a Techbrick student or two to help as a mentor through the program, hit us up1

CAD and 3d printing are becoming a core part of Techbrick's mid-size robotics program for our teenagers.
In this example, around 8pm a design problem is identified on the robot (rings getting jammed).
A student and mentor remotely discuss potential solutions, including a a "finger" to de-jam and hold tem in place.
A new part is CADed and 3d printed within hours.
By the time the next evening meeting begins, the part is in place and solves the problem flawlessly...

Woot Woot! Techbrick FTC Teams are rocking it!
This past weekend, Engineered Chaos had their 2nd in-person competition, while the Tactical Shep tried something new - doing a "remote comp" where a team plays the challenge solo on their own field.
And at this week's Awards CEremony - guess who walked away with a 1st place trophy? BOTH!
Engineered Chaos wowed the judges with their creative, innovative design, yeilding the Collins Aerospace Innovate Award, while Tactical Sheep was recognized for their highly unique self-correcting autonomous code with the prestigious Control Award!

Latest robot technical video from Techbrick team Tactical Sheep.
They have spent a lot of time this year refining a new technique, "visual odometry", that allows the robot to track itself anywhere in space using only a special 2-lens camera with built-in AI.

It is EXTREMELY good at error correction - note pushing it around and even moving it across the field.
Major kudos to two 9th grade programmers for getting this to work... just imagine the math...
