Our last day of the 2022 school year was today. We had a general assembly and dismissed the children with prayer.
School will resume February next year. Pray that the Lord keeps our children and families throughout the holidays!

Today we are closing for the end of year. We are so grateful to God for his provision and protection. And to all of you for your support in prayers, encouragement and materially.

Our teachers showed up ready to learn at a local Marriage Conference. It’s a joy to see them willing to do marriage God’s way. Changed lives change lives.
We really love and value our teachers! They work from 6:45am to 5pm Monday though Friday with an effort to give our children their all! Some even work on Saturdays from 8am-1pm!
Elwa Sunrise staff, happy World Teacher’s Day!

We celebrate our Integrated Science teacher Opio Andrew for his creativity, dedication and consistency!
He was challenged some time ago to improve his learning aids and he has the most beautiful, durable charts among all of our teachers.
He took it upon himself to document his work, and we’re happy to be able to share it with the world. Well done Andrew!!
POV: You sneak up on children reading in class during break time.
Books open up new worlds to children or teach them how to imagine.
In a land where bears and snow don’t exist, they get to read scIence books like this one and see what it’s like to be in other parts of the world. 📖
A lack of foundational phonics in lower primary results in poor reading skills in upper primary.
We have found that our children are great at learning verbally, but struggle with written exams. Why? Because they don’t know the simple rules of reading.
We’re taking steps to change that by teaching upper primary basic phonics on Saturdays

Our P4 class Learning division with Teacher Andrew! Next will be a classroom store

Our teachers came ready for the first day back from the holiday…and looking very good while doing it!

has been our partner for two years helping to get children sponsored and in school.
At our school alone, they’ve helped to sponsor about 60 children since we began partnering.
The time has come for us to engage more sponsors for our school! Click on the link in their bio to learn more. It is truly a seed sown into good ground!

That moment when books become your new best friends…
The joy that our children and teachers experienced this weekend for our Saturday reading program was contagious! We taught phonics lessons and reviewed the sounds with a BINGO game that made the day unforgettable!
We had a great time sending our children home for their 3-week holiday! Making melodies in our hearts with lots of silliness for the glory of the King of kings.

Worshipping…
Praying…
Bible-studying parents.
We are finally getting a rhythm after returning back to school from COVID. Our parents are as much of a concern to us as our children…and they have loved our first Bible study this year learning about God’s heart for children! We can’t wait until next month.

Saturday school is full of new ideas! Our upper class children are learning phonics and they’re excited! Readers are blooming among us! 🌸

We had our first general PTA meeting yesterday and PTA executives were elected. We are so proud of our parents and the incoming PTA executives!!
We are so passionate about children being able to learn from one another and express themselves verbally and confidently.
Our teachers are also adapting to this new approach me we are delighted when the children embrace and enjoy it as well!
Precious Bible time with precious children in preschool

God is so good to us! We made room to accommodate our P6 students by placing them in our kitchen store….and they’re happy!
Still, we’re looking for God to expand us so we can given each child a proper learning environment.

How are we doing? Well, we’re having to make more room for children with temporary structures. I’d say that’s a good sign.
First day of school vibes!
Joy unspeakable. After two years of unpredictability, we are back in business and don’t intend to cease our momentum.

With school reopening after COVID, we have to fill the gap of sponsorship for a few of our beautiful children.
Apar means 10 in the local language of Lira (Lango) and that’s how many sponsorship slots we need filled by December 31st.
We need you! Click the link in the bio to begin sponsoring a child for $35/month.

Interviews for the 2022 school year are complete. Training next week on how to make God the center of their lives and their classroom. We are winning.

Our wall fence is coming along slowly. It’s the small details that we’re attending to.
We’re planning to reopen our doors in January…with a pop of color on our wall fence! The children will be so excited!

One of the major reasons we can still serve our community in the midst of a pandemic is because of people like
Not only was she our first monthly supporter, but she has continued to give since 2018. She met our director, Lisa McQueen, at Florida Southern College 18 years ago and we’re so grateful!
We bless the Lord for you and the William’s Law Firm-our longest-standing financial supporter. We also welcome any other monthly supporters or child sponsors. Visit the link in our bio to give.

We handed out hope yesterday! We visited 10 of our sponsored families and gave them food to help during the lockdown. They were so grateful and our hearts are full.
Giving God all we’ve got for what He’s spoken through His people prophetically. Teachers, cooks, cleaners, directors and friends standing (and dancing) on His promises!!

Our last day of with our School of Encounter friends went a little like this...
1. Worship
2. Teaching on the prophetic
3. Our teachers practicing hearing God’s voice
4. Praising God for what He has spoken
5. Worshipping Him in the beauty of His holiness
Words can’t describe the fullness of joy that we have!! To say “God is amazing” is an understatement.
We are in good company.
Not only is the Holy Spirit with us always, but He has allowed us to learn and explore His heart with an amazing group of friends from YWAM Arua’s School of Encounter.
The team blessed our staff with prayer, worship and prophecy today and we have all been left speechless.
The river is flowing in Elwa. Transformed lives transform lives.

One special aspect of our classrooms are our unique tables. We love how they facilitate child-centered learning and discussion.
While you’re scrolling, take time to pray for our students. They are doing exams this week.
We distributed about 50 Bibles with the help of and her ministry and did a pastor’s Bible training.
We are passionate about the Word reaching others and touching their hearts!

How it started vs how it’s going.
From brick walls, plastic chairs and temporary chalkboards to a modern teaching environment.
Teacher Gloria has also been with us since we opened in 2018. We are grateful to God.
These girls are our students. They’re also members of our church. They chose a leader among themselves and make time to rehearse for Sunday morning worship. It’s such a joy to see them CHOOSE Jesus.

We are preparing to receive our Kids back to start p4 and p5 on 6th April. Don't miss out, bring your child to obtain quality education in a safe environment with us.
Meet our friends from the UK
The Gavins’s Foundation has been pivotal in Elwa Sunrise’s growth. As Kingdom partners, they have been donating funds to us over the past year allowing us to build our school.
~
We asked them to share a few words for our Grand Opening some weeks ago and we are so blessed to “see” them.
~
Take time to pray for our friends and thank God for their work.

Our wall fence is now in construction. Our donors have been super helpful and diligent in helping to get our school prepared for children...whenever they come back. We are delighted to see the continual progress.
