BACKGROUND
This school was first known as Pillai's Model Secondary school Ltd and was headed by an Indian. However, it was renamed St. James' Secondary School in October,1972 and was taken over by the new Diocese of Busoga and its Bishop, Rt. Rev. Cyprian K Bamwoze. It was established by the Church of Uganda to avail a descent education to the children of Busoga and the Asian community which was predominant then and in the years to come in this region. With time, the school lost its predominance and great standard and by the mid 2000s, St. James' was no more. In 2009, two gentlemen hailing from this area, wishing to revive this school for the benefit of the locals, leased the school from Church of Uganda for 49years. Their aim is to ensure that the school provides to the community, education with a difference. With this in mind, the school charges relatively low fees, yet the programmes that we run are meant to ensure that the children get a wholesome education and can compete favourably in this fast growing global village. This makes it expensive and requires lots of money e.g rich instructional materials to boost academics, human resource and student welfare, running a functional computer lab, the science laboratories, building students' talents in sports, music, dance and drama, among others. All these require the right equipment, which has financial implications.
Recognition is here taken to express gratitute to our forer Head teachers, whose tremendous effort has been a ground upon which it has been able to propel St. James' Secondary School to sky levels.
1. Mr. Partrick Kibaalya (RIP)-1973-1983
2. Mr. Sasidharan R. Kurup (RIP) - 1983-2006
3. Mr. Sam Waiswa - 2006-2008
4. Mr. Ilwalwa Fred - 2009-2010
5. Ms. Jacqueline K. Kuteesa - 2010 to date

ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE YEAR 2011-2017

CHALENGES
Some of the big challenges that we are facing in this region if we juxtapose with regions of Uganda are;
1. the low parent/guardian responsiveness to education issues when called upon. This is even portrayed by the findings and rankings that UNEB and Ministry of Education presents about P.L.E, U.C.E, and U.A.C.E.
2. inconsistent parent-follow up on children(contact days aren't well attended)
3. then the economic aspect.

DIRECTION OF THE SCHOOL
In addition to the human resource, management and the directorate of the school, we have a vision, a mission statement and values upon which we have registered the above.

Our vision
"To Become the greatest school in eastern region."
It establishes the affirmation that we are the school of value.

Our mission
"Educate all students in safe, supportive, challenging environment where they can learn to be citizens of a culturally diverse society."
Brands us global in imparting knowledge and preparing patriots for the future.

Mission Statement
"To provide individualized education that addresses students' unique learning styles, cultivate independent thought, and promotes the building of character, establishing them to contribute to their communities in meaningful positive ways."

The school's values
1. Inspire and promote self expression and individual creativity in a child.
2. Talent development for a wholesome education.
3. Equal opportunity to every child.
4. Inspire excellence.
5. Healthy feeding to keep a healthy and strong mind.
6. A green, safe, orderly, caring and supportive environment to enable learning and empower every child successfully move into the main stream of society.
