A message to our beautiful world 🤍
Our hearts and thoughts continue to go out to all of the beautiful and innocent lives lost and displaced locally and globally every day. The mainstream media sadly fails to show us the crimes against humanity worldwide. Let’s change that; work with us to encourage our kids to be critical thinkers and continue to ask questions.💔

Posted @withregram • @kidscanada Let’s continue to raise critical thinkers, truth seekers and kind, curious humans. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and to stand up for all human rights; know our history. Don’t forget to be kind to each other -when did we stop doing that?

Happy Birthday Aunt Don Sharon White! Webale Nyo for choosing to celebrate your special day with us!! Webale Nyo to all of your generous donors who gathered clothing, pads, rice, soap and sent you with a delicious birthday cake! Everyone had a fabulous time planting vegetables and dancing for you and your guests! Come back soon 🤗💗🎈
Just after 3am this morning my friends in Uganda were leaving me messages; there were 3 suicide bomb attacks in kampala shortly after 10am their time. One near the check point to the Central Police Station in Kampala and two on mopeds; these last two shattered 5 floors of windows on my friend’s family building on Parliament Road. Total of 6 fatalities, three were the bombers, many critically injured and all of us shaken.
.
These bombings were claimed by the allied democratic forces, an extremist group, but so many will be quick to judge innocent people based on their race or beliefs. Karim, one of my best friends, Is Muslim; many of my family and friends are. The world becomes a little less safe for him and others when a few unhappy people make very unhappy choices. Our thoughts go out to everyone in Uganda and those with loved ones there 💔

Happy Independence Day Uganda🇺🇬
Home to over 45 million people -Uganda celebrates its 59th year of independence.

Heading into the rain season. Uganda grows so many delicious fruits and vegetables. We’re planting now but this is an example of how big our papayas can get; almost as big as our little Shevan. Jangu! 😋
The adungu is an African stringed instrument that is played by the Alur people in Northwestern and Northeastern Uganda and by the Acholi people in Northern Uganda. This beautiful instrument is an integral part of all traditional performances and our kids are mentored by some of Uganda’s best musicians. OF OUR INTENTION IS;
To form a "conducive" and open space for dancers and young people to practice and experiment with urban and traditional dance "forms" in a safe and constructive environment. We are particularly focused on creating a space that "fosters" the participation of Young women and girls in all of our activities and we aim to increase the percentage of participants who are female across our activities in the coming month and years.

I am absolutely SHOCKED by this performance.
In my ten years on America's Got Talent, I haven't seen anything quite like this. The precision, the athleticism, and the DANGER is something that I won't forget.
If you aren't here to breakdown stereotypes and to help build a world without hatred, racism and to heal colonial atrocities -kindly step aside for those who are.

Modern dance is waning in popularity, and young people don't seem to feel as connected with the work anymore. So what's a 60-year-old ballet company like Alvin Ailey to do to seem limber again?

UKC MUSIC and DANCE TROUPE (UKC TROUPE) is a Kids Canada initiative. Our kids are trained in both traditional and urban music and dance by local and international professional artists that generously donate their time.
Our projects help to keep our kids off the street and provide not only opportunities to travel outside of their village but give them an opportunity to raise funds for basic life needs and school fees. Only 10-20% of profits, raised from shows are used to maintain costumes and instruments, for food and to help push Uganda Kids Canada projects forward at our UKC Centre of Art and Technology in Bombo, Uganda.
Heartfelt thanks to all of our generous supporters who have taken the time to donate time and funds to empower our kids. Please help our kids to help themselves.
