BACK TO SCHOOL AT AMBPS

Our students have returned to school with enthusiasm and a fresh energy for the second term. This week has been primarily dedicated for revision as well as some fun outdoor activities.

One of these activities has been a game called "The Broom Stick Game". This game was not only played for fun but also taught the learners how to save oneself by saving others. (ie, if I let go of my friends stick, I'll lose the game and won't be able to save myself). Learners enjoyed the activity overall and learnt valuable morals such as cooperation, punctuality & timely management of their decisions

As part of our commitment to encourage children to express their creativity and to promote literacy, students of the Al Muntazir Boys Primary School have the opportunity to participate in the Collins Big Cat Writing Competition.

The Collins Big Cat Writing Competition is an annual writing challenge for students around the world to encourage them to write innovatively and read more broadly.

The competition was based on a Collin’s readers series; ‘Shinoy and the Chaos Crew’ and students were asked to create a new adventure for the Chaos Crew or create a new character to join the Crew. Student entries were assessed for creativity, originality, and grammar and after a round of selections, four entries were submitted from the Al Muntazir Boys Primary School for the global competition.
1. Haadi Meghji (6 years) – ‘Switch the Unpredictable’
2. Leith Hamid (7 years) – ‘The New Enemy Approaches’
3. Bhavik Boyapati (8 years) – ‘Zian & The Day of Treacherous Travel’
4. Nathan Fernandes (10 years) – ‘The Day Plastic Filled the Earth’

Judges were blown away by the creativity and ingenuity shown in the entries and all four entries were shortlisted for the Regional Prize.

After a final round of judging, one of our entries was chosen as the overall winning entry for the Collins’ Big Cat Writing Competition – Regional Winner (Africa).

This was the entry by Haadi Meghji of Grade 1 Emerald. We congratulate all our participants on their excellent quality of work and especially, Haadi for an exemplary piece that was considered the best out of all the shortlisted entries!

Fun Activities at AMUNS

Merging fun and education is a key factor for healthy child growth. Fun has a motivational effect on the learning process which determines the skills learned and the amount of information retained. If the experience is fun, learners will stay curious and keep coming back for more.

BPS Sports Activities.

The sports department at BPS planned healthy interclass competitions among students to evaluate where they stand and recognize them for their achievements and keep them motivated. It is essential for students to taste success and failures right from their childhood which enables them to be good individuals with sportsman spirit.

SCIENCE IN REAL LIFE by AMGPS

As the grade 5 students embarked into their third science unit; the States of Matter, they have been exuberantly and excitedly ready for every class.

Throughout this unit, we have explored the concepts of Evaporation, Condensation, Mixtures, and Solutions. To delve deeper and to better understand the topic, students were shown experiments and videos to enhance their understanding.

The experiments were demonstrated by the grade 5 science teachers where students were shown the process of evaporation and condensation.

As we continue on this unit with the water cycle, we look forward to exploring this topic in more depth and watch science come alive for our young scientists.

The MUN activity club at Al Muntazir Girls Primary School studied the 10th UN Global Goal: ‘Reduced Inequalities’.

We focused on the key concept of People with Special Needs in particular - Autism.

The students participated in a Poster Making Competition.

The theme for the poster was “Embracing Uniqueness and Differences.”

Students did research on Autism and submitted a range of original and creative artwork representing the given theme and the knowledge gained on the topic.

Simultaneous to the poster competition, students were taken to the AMSEN (Al Muntazir Special Education Needs) campus to meet the amazing kids there.

They first met with the AMSEN Coordinator, Ms. Zahida Chagani. She gave the girls an overview of what Autism is, how autistic students work and how we should interact with them.

After this, the MUN girls got a chance to play some games and participate in different activities with the AMSEN students. This gave them a chance to get first-hand experience working and meeting students with special needs.

To wrap up the unit, all the participants of the Poster Competition were presented with a certificate and the top 3 winners received gifts too.
