I haven't been active on fb for a number of years and only created this account for work purposes, as most of my colleagues communicate via messenger.
However, I do want to question why many evangelical Christians still seem to be reluctant to offer balanced criticism of Israel. Or worse still, are so pro-Israel minded, they are completely blinkered to it's apartheid and crimes toward Palestinians.
Do we honestly think that because Jesus is Jewish, this gives Israel total impunity?
Can we acknowledge that worldwide surges in antagonism towards Israel, are not so much owing to anti-Semitism, as due to an anger against a nation whose war efforts amount to ethnic cleansing, even genocide?
If the Bible offers honest accounts of godly people, showing beauties and blemishes with unflinching clarity, don't our Christian brothers and sisters equally deserve to know balanced truth about this biblical nation, Israel and where she stands now?
If John the Baptist criticised the Jewish leader Herod Antipas, for sleeping with his brother's wife, and Jesus too called him a vixen, then surely the church also has a prophetic duty to publicly call Israel's leaders (and all in authority) to account?
If we do value Israel, the nation that birthed both the Word and Son of God for the benefit of all, then shouldn't we respond truthfully to her, pointing out she over-stepped her right of self-defence many moons ago, and now simply murders Palestinians wholesale, in both Gaza and the West Bank?
If Israel keeps on this trajectory, she faces another Roman siege, a repeat of Babylonian exile, a return to a Pharoah "who knew not Joseph", perhaps even a second Holocaust - not because of anti-Semitism, but because of God's righteous judgment on her, for turning her back on the 15000 Palestinian children buried beneath her missiles.
Shouldn't we who have been so spiritually blessed through Israel, be warning her "Israel, repent of your war on Gaza, before God repays you in the same measure!" ?
