Little island foundation empowers Pacific Island communities by using every part of the coconut to deliver education, employment, and energy. Thanks!!!
Like our page and find out what we are all about!! Back in 2007, Rick Dalton led a team of engineers to develop automobile fuel out of coconut oil in the remote island nation of Tonga in the South Pacific. Since then, he has been developing additional technologies that further harness the amazing power of the coconut. First and foremost, the water inside a young, green coconut has become a very po
pular health and hydration drink in the US in the last 5-7 years, and only shows sings of growth. At Little Island, we will pick and process these unused island coconuts, and package and sell the delicious coconut water in yoga studios and health food stores in the American market. Our next step will be to harvest and sell the oil and milk which we will extract from the white, fleshy portion of the coconut (called copra). Finally, the coconut shell and husk will be chopped up and burned as bio-fuel to power our processing factories using a bio-diesel electricity generator. Why are we doing this? Because we want to make a significant impact on the struggling island economies of the South Pacific, using a resource that is naturally abundant on the islands. What kind of impact are we talking about? We want to use our financial resources to empower the local struggling islanders with educational opportunities, good paying jobs, and clean burning carbon neutral energy. We call this our "3E" initiative. Employment, Education, and Energy. This operation is truly a labor of love, designed to empower individuals with new opportunities to thrive.
