You can if you believe.

By: Alpha Bundu.

I can do it if others have. No! I can't because we all are built different; in fact, circumstances are not the same. We all at some point had these thoughts fiddling, with our mental faculties. But if I may ask, which of these do you hang on to? Well, whatever it is, the clairvoyance you have about yourself-image made you to.

To believe is one thing, working towards it is another. Working towards what you believe is self-confidence, and that can't be acquired, when you allow negativity to conquer your subconscious mind. Because at the end of the day, it's our self-image that prescribes our limits.

There are people with massive inherent to procure immense Hollywood ending, if they had believed, but were unable to because of thoughts like these: “I am not intelligent to be among the best in class, so, why waste my time on studies when the best grade I could make is a C?”

“Oh, wow! She is beautiful! I like her. But who would like a not so good-looking and broke guy like me! Let me just stay in my lane before I embarrass myself.”

“I can't make much, let me just accept and contend with what God has given me, and settle with it. Going for more brings more problems; after all, it's God's will.”

These are thoughts that toy in our wits every time we think of wanting more, and pursuing it. It's not a divine rule, that if you are poor, you are forever going to remain poor, or if you are rich, you are going to remain rich. It's fear, that is holding us back. The fear of setbacks, the fear of what others think.

The moment you start saying, “I can if others have. Success is not a birthright, if I work hard, I would succeed no matter the situation. Successful people I admire today at some point were in similar situations, like I am now. I can do even better. I will go for it.” Develop this type of habit, and the limit would be the sky for you.

If you are still sceptical about your abilities, then have a look at some world prominent figures who made it with exiguous of chances.

Among them is, Helen Keller, she lost her sight and sense of hearing at 19 months old. That didn't stop her from picking up a bachelor of arts degree at the great Harvard University, becoming the first blind-deaf to do so.

Another is Oprah Winfrey, born in a poor family and going through a difficult childhood. With all that, she became a great media personality and the most renowned TV show host. She also became the richest African-American woman in the 20th century.

Mahatma Gandhi was an ordinary Indian man, who stood up against the British Empire and made India, gained Independent in 1947. Imagine.

Nelson Mandela, of course, is a name you would be eagerly waiting for, well, here you are. Despite being imprisoned for going against apartheid, he came out and became the first black president in South Africa.

All of these names mentioned at some point have the “I can” and “I can't” mindset, but they were able to figure out what they think is best and give it a try, not what society expects them to. Build on your self-confidence, and think less of the fear of failing because when you believe, you are destined for glory. Set your agenda, don't allow society to do it for you.
