WMA ALUMNI FOUNDING MEMBERS
To: The Electoral Commissioner
Mr. Mohamed Ken Komeh
Support for a Free, Fair, and Credible Alumni Election
Dear Mr. Komeh,
I would like to begin by sincerely thanking you for your leadership as Chief Electoral Commissioner, particularly for your efforts in creating awareness among members about the Alumni Constitution, which stands above us all.
We wish you a successful election on May 2nd 2026, which we believe will be one of the most crucial and credible elections in the history of the Alumni. As founding members of the Association, we are fully committed to supporting this process by ensuring that due procedures are followed and that all participants engage in the electoral process with respect and integrity.
At this moment, the authority of the Electoral Commission must be upheld by all, and we must allow you and your team to carry out your responsibilities effectively and at the appropriate time. We kindly urge the Commission to issue official invitations to relevant school authorities, including the two Principals and the Vice Principals, to attend as independent observers.
Additionally, we recommend that the Commission liaise with the nearest police station to obtain the necessary security clearance, ensuring that all proper procedures are maintained. We also call on all members to remain calm and committed to a peaceful electoral process. Let everyone respect the electoral rules and prepare to vote peacefully on election day, May 2nd.
At this time, we encourage members to be mindful of their statements within this forum. We strongly discourage any form of inciting speech, as it goes against both national laws and the values of our Alumni Association. We appeal to everyone to maintain peace and reserve further discussions for after the elections, when dialogue can be more constructively engaged.
The Founding Members remain fully supportive and have also reached out to some state lawyers and key stakeholders in this regard.
We reaffirm our commitment to supporting the Electoral Commission in every possible way to ensure a free, fair, and credible election.
WMA Alumni is our beloved institution, and we must always take pride in it. As we continue to grow, let us remain united, knowing that we have a long journey ahead in supporting one another, both within the Alumni and in the broader professional world.
Thank you.
_Best regards,_
_Ambassador Sheku Osman Swaray_

Update on the Suspension of WMA Alumni Electoral Process
The Founding Membership and Transitional Team Lead of the WMA Alumni wishes to provide further clarification regarding the recent suspension of the ongoing electoral process.
This decision was necessitated by emerging concerns and reported discrepancies in the lead-up to the elections, particularly relating to compliance with key provisions of the 2021 WMA Alumni Constitution, including Chapter 4 (Office Bearers: Qualifications and Duties), Chapter 6 (Obligations of Members) and Chapter 11 (Voting Procedures).
Additionally, the leadership has taken note of various interpretations circulating among members regarding eligibility criteria. For the avoidance of doubt, membership of the WMA Alumni is inclusive. Any individual who has attended the WMA School, regardless of duration, is recognized as part of this Association, in line with our values of unity and inclusiveness.
In order to ensure a fair, transparent, and credible electoral process, the Founding Leadership has initiated a comprehensive review, including the establishment of independent mechanisms to assess all concerns raised, particularly those relating to candidate eligibility and adherence to constitutional requirements. As part of this process, all aspirants will undergo a transparent re-screening exercise.
Following the conclusion of this review, a final list of duly qualified candidates will be published, along with a new election date to be announced in the shortest possible time.
As Founder and Head of this Transition, I strongly reiterate my commitment to being fully engaged and present throughout the process, to ensure strict adherence to due process and to uphold the integrity of the Association.
We call on all members and stakeholders to remain calm, cooperative, and committed to the collective interest of WMA Alumni as we work towards delivering a credible and constitutionally compliant election.
Please find the 2021 WMA Alumni Constitution below.
Long live WMA Alumni!
For and On behalf of the Founding Membership and Transitional Team,
Amb. Sallieu Sankoh

The Founding Membership and Transitional Leadership of the WMA Alumni, under the leadership of its Founder and Head of Transition, Amb Sallieu Sankoh, hereby announces the immediate suspension of the ongoing electoral process until further notice.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER
Clarification on Candidate Eligibility and the New Evaluation Framework
Dear Members of the Alumni Association,
As we move forward with the current electoral cycle, the Electoral Commission (EC) wishes to provide clarity regarding candidate eligibility and the methodology being used to ensure a fair, transparent, and credible transition.
Regarding Constitutional Eligibility
The Alumni Constitution outlines specific criteria for Presidential candidates, notably the requirement for active membership and consistent participation for at least one year. Historically, over the last two election cycles, the association has faced a challenge where many long-standing members remained in the background during the call for leadership. This led to a precedent where the strict "one-year active participation" rule was not fully enforced to ensure the association continued to function and have leadership.
In the spirit of inclusivity and moving the association forward, the Commission has recognized the current list of candidates as qualified to participate. These individuals have demonstrated their commitment by undergoing the formal registration process and purchasing their membership forms. By completing these steps and meeting the financial obligations of the association, they have established their legal standing to contest, consistent with previous proceedings.
To ensure we maintain high standards while being fair in our judgment, the Electoral Commission has introduced a comprehensive *Grading System*. This framework is designed to move beyond simple "pass/fail" eligibility and instead provides a multi-dimensional look at each candidate’s readiness to lead.
The evaluation is broken down into three distinct phases:
*Phase 1: Candidate Verification (50%)*
* *WMA Verification Fee (30%):* Confirms financial standing and institutional commitment.
* *Alumni Eligibility Screening (15%):* Ensures compliance with foundational organizational by-laws.
* *Intent and Application Letter (5%):* Assesses the candidate's formal interest and professional intent.
*Phase 2: Engagement & Vision (20%)*
* *WMA Alumni Manifesto (5%):* An evaluation of the candidate's strategic plan and vision.
* *Alumni Debates & Character (10%):* An assessment of public speaking, leadership character, and mannerisms.
* *Campaign Conduct (5%):* An evaluation of professionalism and community engagement during the election season.
*Phase 3: Community Mandate (30%)*
* *Alumni Election Day (30%):* The final determination made by the direct vote and will of the general
To ensure stability and fairness for all, the Transition Committee and the Electoral Commission have instituted a *4% penalty deduction* from the final score for any items or documentation received after specified deadlines. This rule is applied equally to all candidates to maintain the integrity of the roadmap.
By implementing this structured grading system, the Commission is building a stronger infrastructure for the future. We believe this balanced approach respects our history while ensuring that the next leadership is chosen based on merit, vision, and the popular mandate of the alumni body.
We thank you for your cooperation as we work together to build a more credible and structured Alumni Association.
Sincerely,
*The Electoral Commissioner*
