Bagovu Beach & Waves: The white beach shoreline is fringed with tall, sweeping coconut palms and trees that arch towards the breaking sea waves. This is a great spot for surfers and to set up for a day at the beach, enjoying BBQ and few Solbrew beers. The beach area is well maintained with small leaf houses with tables established along the shore and hammocks. As you arrive at the beach front you can sense a quiet and restful atmosphere. You can sit under the small houses and trees watching big sea waves breaking ashore and watching children playing in the sea. Also it is a good choice if you are searching for a quiet and secluded spot. Visitors can enjoy their time at the white fine sandy beach; however, it is best suited to swimmers and surfers rather than divers. Bagovu Village: As you approach the Bagovu village from the beach heading into the village, you will see clearly the BHS Community Rest House, Kindy School and Church building. As you make yourself known, the villagers will wander down to greet you with cheery smiles since everybody is eager to have a look at the new faces. The villagers are friendly, hospitable and happy to show you around to their leaf residing houses and cook leaf houses. Bagovu Bush Trek to Foliboma River and Waterfall: This walk is less a trek and more a pleasant stroll. It is situated to visitors who don’t want to travel a great distance and keen to explore an authentic village life while enjoying the beautiful natural environment. The walking track runs parallel to a clear tranquil river for the most part. Either side of the river is very terrain with thick rainforest, coconut palm plantations and small flat-river plain with plantation betel nut palms, pandanus/sago palms with swamp kakake farms, tall trees and spindly vines dangling from the canopy above. Nearer to the waterfall you will come to the villagers’ farm gardens and kava farms. At the waterfall, you will see falling water, pristine water and pools for swimming and diving, limestone high cliffs for water jumping and rainforest for a look around. You can do your own intensive hiking and have more fun and time to take photographs. Getting there: In terms of transport to reach BHS safely, the first cheaper and convenient transport is the one that provided by Isabel Development Company Shipping. Bagovu is an established port of call by the company and visitors can board any available shipping schedule that can arrive at this port. The other means of transport is provided by the Solomon Airlines and this is through boarding a flight via Honiara to Fera. An out board motor will be there to pick up visitors and transport to them safely to the community home staying, a 30 minutes drive from Fera Airstrip.
