Surah Al-Baqarah(3-4)
Allāh does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."

Our Lord! Make us both ˹fully˺ submit to You and from our descendants a nation that will submit to You. Show us our rituals, and turn to us in grace. You are truly the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.
(Al-Quran 2:128)
Exalted is Allah, the True King! Do not rush to recite a revelation of the Quran O Prophet˺ before it is properly conveyed to you, and pray, “My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.”
When you study the context in which this du’a was revealed you’ll understand the message behind this du’a is similar to the idea of quality over quantity. It’s very difficult to learn under pressure, to really understand and to know comes slowly.
This teaching, to be patient in learning, and to take your time is more relevant now than ever. The technology of today is vying to capture and keep your attention. They have the brightest scientists looking for ways to addict your brains to their platforms. We play an active role because we’re pursuing constant pleasure for no purpose other than to be entertained. We fail to realize the negative long-term effects this kind of addiction can have. We have one brain (surprise) and we use it for everything. We don’t consider the ramifications of how we’re training ourselves.
If you want to have an impact on the world you need to learn, you need knowledge. The pursuit and spread of knowledge is one of the most virtuous and honorable acts in Islam, Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever takes a path upon which to obtain knowledge, Allah makes the path to Paradise easy for him.” (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2646)
It was narrated from Jabir that: The Messenger
And be humble with them out of mercy, and pray, “My Lord! Be merciful to them as they raised me when I was young.”
Al Quran(17:24)
So he watered ˹their herd˺ for them, then withdrew to the shade and prayed, “My Lord! I am truly in ˹desperate˺ need of whatever provision You may have in store for me.”
Al-Quran (28:24)
And Allah sets forth an example for the believers: the wife of Pharaoh, who prayed, “My Lord! Build me a house in Paradise near You, deliver me from Pharaoh and his ˹evil˺ doing, and save me from the wrongdoing people.”
The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.
Surah Baqarah Ayah 185
When they advanced to face Goliath and his warriors, they prayed, “Our Lord! Shower us with perseverance, make our steps firm, and give us victory over the disbelieving people.”
Allah does not require of any soul more than what it can afford. All good will be for its own benefit, and all evil will be to its own loss. ˹The believers pray,˺ “Our Lord! Do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord! Do not place a burden on us like the one you placed on those before us. Our Lord! Do not burden us with what we cannot bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our ˹only˺ Guardian. So grant us victory over the disbelieving people.”
Yet there are others who say, “Our Lord! Grant us the good of this world and the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.”
