I'm a mom, a certified yoga teacher and I specialize in pre and postnatal yoga and inner work.

A few years ago I worked with mentally disabled people and I found my elf so challenged.
I could do very simple practices and some of them couldn't even lift their arms by themself so I did it for them.
I found myself thinking what's the point? Are they getting any benefits from this? Is it worth it?
I would try to find the things that I thought made them happy and make them smile and be try to be content with that.
When the day came and I said goodbye I was surprised to see and hear how much they'll miss me.
The staff told me how important this was for them and that they could see the difference I made.
This taught me so much.
Sometimes we think that if we don't see a big progress we achieved nothing but, as they say, god is in the little things.

How yoga helps me become a happier mom #2

I'm my own worst critic and at times I can be my worst friend.
Self blame and guilt send my inner judge into a spin and he always finds me accountable.
In the recent years I started noticing this more and more, especially since becoming a mother, and I realized that if I don't want my son to follow this example I must be kinder to myself.

How did yoga help me with this?

I started off in Ashtanga yoga, where I always felt that I'm not good enough, I never got the complicated postures right and never managed to practice ashtanga every day as expected. I liked sweating and working hard but couldn't bring myself to do it every single day.
My inner judge loved it.
I kept telling my self this story of not being a good enough teacher, and it fed itself.
Until I started realizing that this might not be the right practice for me.
I explored and opened myself to my inner guides and discovered that there are different movements my body needs on different days.

***I became a better friend to myself and more compassionate, and I can teach that to my son by exemple.
*** I started understanding the sessions of my feminine cycle and respecting it, which helped me be more calm.
*** I started loving and respecting my inner rhythm and flow with it, loving my uniqueness allows me to love my son's uniqueness

SO, bottom line is that yoga gave me the opportunity to gently notice the negative self talk and with kindness to allow it to pass on, like a cloud in the sky.
It doesn't always happen that easy but I DO MY BEST, and that's good enough.

When it all look chaotic and you're not sure you can do this you may feel alone and self blame can arise.
Know this- as long as you do your best you're the best mom there is for this child.
Your child has chosen you as his mother, with all your imperfections.

Over the years yoga gave me many things, but it is only after becoming a mother that I truly understood it's power.
I realized that taking a break to practice is crucial for my mental health and through these breaks I discovered how much can I take from yoga into motherhood.

These are my main reminers:
1. Choose what to focus on- there are times that all seems chaotic and hard, but if I take a good look inside I can always find a peaceful place.
2. This too shall pass- no matter how much it seems challenging now, it's only temporary, as all challenging poses are.
2. I don't need to be perfect. my body is unique and so any pose I do won't look exactly like the one in the book, and that's OK.

I find it so easy to get lost in my thoughts, getting pulled to many directions at once and not really managing to see which way is truly mine.
This is when I know that turning inward and checking in with my body will give me the right answer.
This I know today, after years of working on this relationship, between my body and my heart.
We're born with this knowledge but loose it on the way, yoga is a path to remember and reestablish it.

Short spring routine

In spring all is blooming and new beginings are seen, as in nature also in our body and mind.
We feel more open and vibrant, want to move more and allow new things to come into our lives.
We are more creative, light and there is a feeling of change around.
In our practice we honor this shift and allow it to open our hearts and joints to recieve the blessings of this time 🧘‍♀️🤸‍♀️

When this Beauties first started growing they looked like plane w**ds and all I wanted was to take them so I'll have space to plant what I want. With time I left them since there were too many of them to handle and forgot about it.
Then one day I smelled an amazing sent and realized its coming from them.

Sometimes we think something isnt in the right place but actually its exactly where it should be.

In rainy days we automatically retrieve inside, taking more time to be home, relax, slow down.
Sometimes it's not easy and difficult emotions arise. Sometimes we wish the rain would stop just so we can take a walk and leave these feelings at behind...
Remember, these feelings are always there, waiting for the right moment to draw your attention to them.
Be present, allow yourself to feel them, and notice what amazing things happen next.

Practicing Gratefulness is not as easy as it may seem.
When all goes well and we're in good spirits then yes, of course it's easy.
The true challenge is to see the things we're grateful for when things aren't going the way we want them to.
This is why it's good to train our minds to be grateful- take a minute every day and write down 3 things you're grateful for. do this every day at the same time, make it a ritual, and see the effect it has on you over time, after a couple of weeks.
After a while it'll become a habit and not a task.

One can practice yoga in so many ways.
It can be a very physical practice or a very internal practice. I love it when it's a combination of the two.
When my mind doesn't wander off every other breath and I can feel the hit building up in the body and breaking out in sweat.
The best part somes at the end, when I'm in Shavasana and I can feel at peace in my heart.

Giving birth is a massive physical challenge. It takes time to get the body back to it's abilities from before.
I did headstands almost until I gave birth, but when I got back to practicing yoga I could barely hold a plank for more then 5 seconds.
It takes time to except the change and work with your body, and not bad talk yourself in the process, to gradually get your strength back.
eventually you get there, and you're way stronger than before, because now you're not only a yoga practitioner who finds time to practice, now you're also a mom who takes good care of herself.

Being pregnant is...
so many things.
It can be an exhausting time or a wonderful time, or a mixture of the two.
Often our life is busy at is it is, and then we get pregnant and have all the doctor appointments to fit into the schedule. Some are appointments we're excited about, other we worry about.
At the same time, our body is changing and we need to learn how to accept it and what to do to make things easier.

a good place to do so is in prenatal yoga classes.
It allows you to learn, listen and understand the changes that are happening mentally and physically and most importantly, it gives you the chance to take a break and slow down with a long and deep breath.

To all my friends who are wondering... this picture is from 2 and some years ago :)
