Montessori Language Practical: The Metal Insets.
Working with the Metal Insets teaches children to develop their pencil grip, refine their fine motor skills, and learn how to draw within an outline, which is the material's control of error. The Metal Insets indirectly allow children to practice concentration and order as they work with, and master, the material.
Metal Insets
Introducing the Metal Insets
The Metal Insets are part of the Montessori Language Curriculum. They are a learning tool used to prepare children for writing.
This eye-catching material is comprised of ten flat metal squares that have two components. This includes a pink frame, and a blue metal shape, cut out with a k**b in the centre. These metal shapes include a square, triangle, circle, rectangle, oval, trapezoid, pentagon, curvilinear triangle, quatrefoil, and ellipse.
The Metal Insets are usually kept in a cabinet with a slopping back, allowing children to easily see and access the material. This is accompanied by coloured pencils, categorised by colour, on the top shelf of the cabinet. Paper, pencil holders, and work trays are found on the bottom shelf.
Purpose
Children begin working with the Metal Insets between the ages of three and six.
The direct aim of the material is to help children develop the fine motor skills required for holding a pencil in preparation for writing.
Working with the Metal Insets teaches children to develop their pencil grip, refine their fine motor skills, and learn how to draw within an outline, which is the material’s control of error.
The Metal Insets indirectly allow children to practice concentration and order as they work with, and master, the material.
In addition, the Metal Insets encourage children to challenge their imagination as they create artistic designs. Interacting with these shapes and colours also lay the foundation for future work in Geometry.

Classroom Activities refers to actions that an instructor takes to create and maintain a learning environment that is conducive to successful instruction. These actions include decisions about structure, organization, and course activities that support students by managing their expectations and behaviors. Effective classroom management can create a positive learning environment that:
Fosters an environment that supports academic, social, and emotional learning;
Facilitates a structured and organized environment where students can focus on learning; and
Builds trust and healthy relationships between instructor and students, and peer-to-peer among students.
Maintains attention and fosters motivation and engagement; and
Minimizes disruption and interference with learning.
The classroom is a learning environment with particular purposes, features, processes, and dimensions. Classrooms are public places and yet each class can feel like a private sphere with shared stories, inside jokes, and particular comforts and discomforts. Each classroom can also have its own dynamics that are affected by the people in the room, the time of day, the physical space, and many other factors.
The instructor can have a big influence on the ecology of the classroom by attending to many of these factors through course and lesson planning. What works:
Being “with it”: scan the room and be aware of what is happening at all times
Overlapping: do more than one thing at a time, such as maintaining eye contact and using proximity to keep attention
Momentum: teach well-prepared and briskly paced lessons that keep students’ attention
Keep the group alert and accountable: use teaching techniques that keep students’ attention and reduce predictability
Offer varied and challenging assignments: different ways to use their minds at the right level of difficulty
Here are some of my favorite Social Skills and Classroom Management Activities that just might get you through the rest of this year. My students of Seedlings 🌱 Montessori Junior can’t get enough of # amazing activities! 😍

Let's Make a Peacock 🦚 by using handprint and thumbprints.
It is an excellent tactile experience.
It stimulates kid's senses. (Touch/feel, sight, smell, edible finger paint= taste)
It helps a child’s intellectual development. The mixing of colors teaches your child about their colors and how to create new colors.
It allows them to use their imagination and creativity.
It is emotionally soothing (in most cases).
It encourages cognitive development.
It strengthens the hand and fingers which helps with fine motor skills.
Most importantly, it is FUN!

At Seedlings 🌱 Montessori, a special curriculum is developed for our little dazzling stars. This curriculum showcases activities that are involved in all aspects of life. The child observes and practices these activities in the environment and gains knowledge through the real experience of how to accomplish life skills in a purposeful way. These activities are cultural and specific to the child’s time and place. These specially formulated activities help give the child a sense of being and belonging, established through participation in daily life with us. Through practical life the child learns about his culture and all about what it is to be human. Generally the activities of practical life revolve around four areas: Caring for the Self, Caring for the Environment, Grace & Courtesy and Movement of Objects. There is another area which encompasses all four areas and which is a very important part of practical life, namely food. These practical and hands on activities are an integral part of our Montessori environment.
Seedlings 🌱 Montessori
comprises of curriculum that focuses on early years of child development.
Seedlings thematic Montessori is the combination of Montessori philosophy and early year’s pedagogy.
Children are capable and competent to build deep understandings when they learn through all senses and offered choices in their learning experiences according to their apptitude. Our in-house material provides level wise workbook of each subject and guidelines are in form of subject wise curriculum to make the system unified.
Children learn best through the 3 E’s approach Exposure, Exploration & Expansion. Children’s positive dispositions to learning, and to themselves as learners, are essential for success in school and beyond.
Children learn best in environments where there are supportive relationships of the teachers, Branch heads and administrative staff.
Early childhood programs are most effective when they recognizes, value and build upon the cultural and social experiences of children. Building continuity of learning as children move to and through school provides foundations for their future success. Assessment of young children is an integral part of the learning teaching process. Beyond the Class room activities is a very important part of our curriculum.
1. For English & Urdu: Four areas are reading, writing, listening and speaking.
2. For Mathematics essentials part is Mental Math’s, concept clarity, practice and application.
3. General knowledge curriculum enhances child’s general knowledge through activities.
At the 3-4 level we develop the skills needed for practical life, through modeling and collaborative presentations. On the 4-5 level we refine these skills giving formal presentations, working towards increased concentration, exactness and precision. On both levels, the thematic based exercises teach the child sequencing, develop concentration and aid in language development. These exercises prepare the child for the Sensorial Exercises of the 3-5 environment and the everyday activities of his life, producing a contributing independent member to his world.

An illustrated Presentation to teach pupils about Eid-ul-Adha.
This informative Presentation will help to teach students all about this Muslim festival. The presentation help children understand the Festival of Sacrifice & to teach the story of Ibrahim's sacrifice and how Muslims celebrate this every year. Learn how the festival is celebrated and its significance in the Islam.
What is Qurbani?
Qurbani means sacrifice. During Eid Al-Adha, Muslims remember the story of Ibrahim by sacrificing an animal to Allah. This is shared equally with friends, family and those in need. It's a time for helping those in need by providing food and donating to charity.
How do Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Adha?
Eid-ul-Adha is a public holiday in Muslim countries. In remembrance of the story of Ibrahim, Muslim families sacrifice a lamb or goat and share out the meat. One third goes to family, one third to friends and one third to the poor.At Eid every family must give to charity to enable those less fortunate to celebrate this special time too.
Seedlings 🌱 Montessori Wishing a very Happy Eid-ul-Adha to the most amazing parents & students …. We wish that Allah (SWT) accepts your sacrifices and grants all your wishes…. Ameen.
Have a wonderful Eid-ul-Adha!!

On Tuesday 21st June 2022 Seedlings 🌱 Montessori celebrated ‘Watermelon Day’ in Montessori Section to enhance the children’s knowledge about it. They were communicated the health benefits and were made familiar with the extended vocabulary around the theme. In addition, hygienic ways to consume it were inculcated. It was also quite a sensory experience as they explored the texture, colour, seeds and taste of the fruit. Students had to fish out watermelon seeds from shell of the watermelon which was filled with frothy foam.
Finally, they all drank watermelon juice which was rejuvenating. It was all a fun filled and learning experience for the children.
Even those young ones who are somewhat hesitant about tasting this energizing fruit at home, were encouraged by their fellow peers and teachers to give it a try.
There is no doubt that maintaining a child’s diet in a balanced and nutritious way, is becoming more of a challenge day by day. This was a wonderful way of encouraging children to include fruits in their diet that are so essential for growth and health.
