Campus News | BFP Ormoc: Do the RACE!
Fire is fast. Do the RACE!
Chief Fire Officer (FO) II, Asterio M. Caminade and Fire Officer (FO) II, Dale Francis Hernandez emphasized RACE (Rescue, Alarm, Confine, and Extinguish or Evacuate) as one of the fire safety measures during the Fire Safety Prevention Seminar held at TVL laboratory, on Tuesday, March 12.
Through RACE students will be able to rescue others, alarm immediately for help, confine the fire by quickly removing the items that might attract fire and use cooling methods such as oxygen exclusion, fuel removal, and fire extinguisher.
"Think and move fast because fire will spread every 30 seconds," said FO II Caminade.
They also taught the students what to do during fire outbreak using RACE, methods to extinguish, and how to use fire extinguisher.
"The seminar was a great help," said Gianne Quiñones of Grade-12 Zeal. "It really promotes safety and awareness, and taught us not to panic when times like that occur," she added.
