A Lenten Recollection.

Grateful for the opportunity to accompany the seminarians in a day of reflection, prayer and sharing where they were made more aware of the value of healing, forgivenesses, letting go with the flow of life and the reality that we are all connected with one another and with all of creation. Let us pray for them that that may grow in the love of God and in their desire to serve the Church. All the best and God bless!
Love Him instead of her

Christy,

Today we celebrate the Feast day of Saints Jude and Simon🎉

St. Jude Thaddaeus

Judas is also known as Judas, Tadai, or Lebaus. He is a respected author of Judas' orthodox letters and warns of blasphemous and profane heretics. He is the author of the letter to the Church of the East, especially to the Simonians, Nicolaitans, and Jewish convertors directed to the heretic of the Gnostics. This apostle was then Persian. It has been recognized that he was martyred in Armenia underneath. The final conversion of the Armenian state to Christianity was the 3rd century AD.

St. Simon the Zealot
People believed that Simon joined St. Jude in Persia after preaching in Egypt. He has been martyred by being cut in half with a saw, a tool he was often drawn. However, King St. Basil of the 4th century says he died peacefully in Edessa.

The Apostle St. Simon, also known as Simon the Zealot (prospered in the first century C.E.-died in Persia or Edessa, Greece, a western holiday on October 28), was one of the twelve apostles. In the Gospels of Mark and Matthew, he bears the epithet Kananaios or the Cananaean. Kananaios is a Greek transliteration of Aramaic, qanʾanaya, meaning "Zealot."

Today we celebrate the Feast day of Saint John Paul II 🎉

Saint John Paul II, Latin John Paulus, original name Karol Józef Wojtyła, (born May 18, 1920, Wadowice, Poland - died April 2, 2005, Vatican City; beatified May 1, 2011; canonized on April 27, 2014; Festival October 22), Bishop of Rome and leader of the Roman Catholic Church (1978-2005), the first non-Italian Pope in 455 years and the first from a Slavic country. His pontificate of more than 26 years was the third longest in history. As part of his efforts to better understand peoples and religions, he made numerous trips abroad, covering distances far greater than all other popes combined, and expanded his influence beyond the church by campaigning against political oppression and materialism. of the West. He also apologized to groups that had historically been wronged by Catholics, especially Jews and Muslims. His brazen Polish nationalism and his emphasis on nonviolent political activism aided the solidarity movement in communist Poland in the 1980s and eventually contributed to the peaceful dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. In general, John Paul used his influence among Catholics and around the world to promote the recognition of human dignity and discourage the use of force. However, his centralized style of church governance dismayed some members of the clergy who found him autocratic and stifling. He failed to reverse the general decline in the number of priests and nuns, and his traditional interpretations of ecclesiastical teachings on personal and sexual morality alienated some sections of the laity.

Saint Francis of Assisi (11821226) is an Italian mystic and preacher who founded the Franciscans. He was born in Assisi, Italy, and his original name is Giovanni Francesco Bernardone. As a young man, Francis led a worldly and carefree life. After a battle between Assisi and Perugia, he was imprisoned in Perugia for more than a year. During his arrest, he suffered a critical illness that made him decide to change his life. Back in Assisi in 1205, he held charity events among lepers and began restoring ruined churches. Francisco's change of character and his charitable spending enraged his father, who disinherited him legally. Francis then stripped off his rich robes for a bishop's mantle and devoted the next three years to caring for the outcast and lepers in the forests of Mount Subasio. He was canonized in 1228, and in 1980, Pope John Paul II appointed him patron of environmentalists. In art, the emblems of Saint Francis are the wolf, the lamb, the fish, the birds, and the stigmata. His feast is October 4.
