Noong Agosto 7, 2024, inilabas ang pinakabagong Summary Inflation Report ng Philippine Statistics Authority na nagpapakita na umabot sa 6.0% ang headline inflation sa Masbate Province para sa buwan Hulyo, mula sa 5.4% noong Hunyo. Ito ang pinakamataas na inflation rate na naitala mula Hulyo 2023 hanggang Hulyo 2024.

Mga Dahilan ng Pagtaas:

Pabahay, Tubig, Elektrisidad, Gas, at Iba pang Pangangailangan: Tumaas sa 6.4% mula sa 3.9%.

Pagkain at Non-Alcoholic Beverages: Tumaas sa 6.5% mula sa 6.3%.

Kagamitan sa Bahay at Regular na Pag-maintenance: Tumaas sa 10.0% mula sa 7.9%.

Sa kabila ng mga pagtaas, ang Purchasing Power of the Peso (PPP) ay nanatiling matatag sa 0.77.

Mahalagang tandaan na ang target na inflation rate ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) ay nasa 2-4% lamang. Ang kasalukuyang inflation na 6.0% ay malayo sa target na ito.

PUP Lawôd has achieved its first revalidated status as a University-Wide Organization at PUP Santa Mesa Campus. The revalidation process commenced in November of the previous year.

The organization is committed to serving its fellow PUPIAN Masbateño students and the province as a whole. It will persist in engaging in volunteer work, both at PUP Main and in Masbate, and will advocate for environmental justice and education. Moreover, it will continue to urge for accountability, advocating for the principle that polluters should bear the costs of their actions.

The event was attended by Sofia Nuñez and Niño Dante, the President and the VP for Internal Affairs.

President of PUP Lawôd, Sofia Nuñez, together with Jaira Barua jointly presented their research at the recent 2024 Philippine Population Association International Conference. Held under the theme "Addressing Global Risks and Population Challenges Towards Sustainability: The Philippines Lens," this significant event took place at the prestigious Cagayan State University Andrews Campus in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, on March 7, 2024.

Their comprehensive study, titled "Reaching the Marginalized: Exploring the Impact of Education Expenditure and Other Indicators on Poverty Alleviation in the Philippines", provided invaluable insights into vital strategies aimed at reducing poverty levels within the country.
Through meticulous analysis and thoughtful examination, Nuñez and Barua illuminated the crucial role of education expenditure and other key indicators in addressing the complex issue of poverty.

Yesterday, March 7, 2024, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines has officially recognized PUP Lawôd as a U-WIDE Organization through MEMORANDUM NO. 06, SERIES OF 2024 from PUP SC COSOA.

This means that PUP Lawôd has fulfilled the necessary requirements and qualifications to be revalidated as an official organization in the university.
This recognition opens up new opportunities for PUP Lawôd to participate in various school activities, events, and programs.
