🌟𝙑𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙢 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨!

Approximately 5.1 million Filipino children live with disabilities, yet only around 126,598 were enrolled in 2021-2022 in DepEd schools due to lack of support for distance learning (Dela Peña, 2023).[1]

When it comes to funding, the SNED or SPED budget is under the Inclusive Education Program (IEP), along with Indigenous People’s Education (IPED), Multi-grade Education, and Flexible Learning Options (FLO). The SNED sector has been allotted P999.2 million or 1% of the total OSEC budget. Fortunately, it received an increase from the previous year (CPBRD, 2024).[2]

📚Despite these, there is still a shortage of SPED teachers with only 4,000 available. This leaves 1 SPED teacher handling 31 students in a classroom, far from the ideal 15:1. Additionally, approximately 84% of municipalities lack SPED centers, revealing the need for further enchantment to support inclusive education (Dela Peña, 2023).[1] 🧙‍♂️🏫

Nevertheless, the Philippine educational system and its stakeholders march onward, on an extraordinary journey weaving inclusivity into its tapestry. 🌈📚
