The Adamson University law student community is proud to announce the selection of Mr. Jose Mari Callueng and Mr. Myron Dominick Manalastas, both graduates of the Adamson University-College of Law, as part of the 90 Youth Voices for the Future organized by the British Council. They will be participating in the study visit that will be happening in the United Kingdom this July.
As the British Council celebrates its 90th anniversary, it is forming a global network of 90 inspiring young leaders called the 90 Youth Voices. With a mission to bridge cultures, spark dialogue, and drive positive change, this network provides a platform for collaboration, learning, and action.¹
The members of this network were chosen for their willingness and motivation to contribute to bringing positive change in their community. The two Vincentian law graduates were selected together with other young leaders from over 50 countries.
Mr. Callueng, aside from his human rights advocacy work during his law school days, has been key in the creation of the College of Law's Community Paralegal Training funded by the European Union and implemented by the British Council alongside with the United Nations Office for Project Services. Mr. Manalastas, on the other hand, actively participated in different legal aid projects such as providing legal services to the poor and marginalized.
We congratulate our Klasmeyts, Mr. Callueng and Mr. Manalastas for demonstrating the values that every Vincentian law student lives by -Justice, Charity, and Service.

Happy Easter Klasmeyts!
As we gather in reflection and celebration on this glorious Easter Sunday, let us draw inspiration from the profound symbolism of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The resurrection of Christ signifies the triumph of light over darkness, hope over despair, and life over death. It is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the boundless love and mercy of our Creator. In the face of adversity, Jesus showed us the way forward, teaching us to persevere with unwavering faith and courage.
As aspiring legal minds, we are entrusted with the noble task of upholding justice and righteousness in society. Like Jesus, we are called to stand firm in our convictions, to defend the oppressed, and to advocate for the marginalized. In doing so, we become beacons of hope and agents of positive change in a world often shrouded in shadows.
Let us emulate the compassion and forgiveness exemplified by Christ, extending a helping hand to those in need and fostering a culture of empathy and understanding. Let us remember that true strength lies not in power or dominance but in humility and service to others.
On this joyous occasion, may the spirit of Easter fill our hearts with renewed hope, peace, and love. May we be guided by the light of Christ as we navigate the complexities of our legal studies and embark on our respective journeys. And may we always remember that through faith and perseverance, we too can experience our own resurrection, emerging stronger and more resilient than ever before.
Hi Klasmeyts!
The Midterm Examinations starts today, March 13, 2024 and will end on March 20, 2024.
Remember to stay focused, manage your time effectively, and remember that challenges are opportunities for growth, and each question you encounter is a chance to showcase your knowledge and understanding.
Also, always remember that in answering essay type questions, we must use the ALAC (Answer, Legal Basis, Application, Conclusion) Method:
First, Answer: Most questions will ask whether or not the contention of a party is correct. Takers must first answer by jotting down a YES or a NO followed by the question asked.
Second, Legal Basis: Provide the legal basis for your answer by citing relevant statutes, case law, regulations, or legal principles. Explain the applicable legal rules and doctrines that govern the issue at hand.
Third, Application: Apply the legal principles to the specific facts of the case or scenario. Analyze how the law operates in practice and evaluate the implications of each element of the legal framework.
And last, Conclusion: Conclude your analysis by summarizing your findings and restating your answer in light of the legal analysis provided.
May your preparations be thorough, your minds sharp, and your efforts rewarded. Best of luck to us Klasmeyts!

Today marks the 38th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, a pivotal moment in our nation's history that showcased the power of unity, resilience, and the unwavering spirit of the Filipino people.
As we commemorate the 38th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, we stand on the shoulders of history, acknowledging the turbulent antecedents that led to a defining moment in our nation's journey toward democracy.
From February 22 to 25, 1986, EDSA became the theater of People Power, an awe-inspiring demonstration of the Filipino spirit. The call for the overthrow of the Marcos government reverberated through the streets, as millions of Filipinos, armed not with weapons but with courage and conviction, peacefully assembled to demand the restoration of democracy.
The effects of EDSA were transformative, transcending the mere ousting of a dictator. It paved the way for the establishment of the 1987 Constitution, which became the cornerstone of our democracy, anchoring our nation in principles of justice, equality, peace and human rights.
As we commemorate this significant milestone, it is paramount to underscore the importance of eternally remembering EDSA. It is not just a chapter in our history; it is an anthem of resilience and the unwavering commitment to the democratic ideals that define us as a people.
In the echoes of EDSA, we find a timeless lesson – that the collective power of the Filipino people can surmount any challenge. Let us carry this legacy forward, remaining vigilant custodians of democracy, ensuring that the flame ignited at EDSA continues to illuminate our path towards a brighter future.
JOINT STATEMENT OF ADAMSON UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF LAW STUDENT COUNCIL AND NUPL - ADAMSON LAW ON CHARTER CHANGE AND PEOPLE's INITIATIVE
Greetings in the name of St. Vincent de Paul!
The Adamson University College of Law Student Council, together with the National Union of People’s Lawyers—Adamson University Chapter, is united with the Filipino people in its fight against the recent proposal to amend the provisions of the 1987 Constitution.
The 1987 Constitution is the by-product of a decade-long struggle against the dictator, Ferdinand Marcos Sr. As we commemorate the 38th anniversary of the EDSA People Power, we are called upon again to collectively fight against the looming attempt to circumvent the law in the interest of some.
In January 2024, the People's Initiative for Reform Modernization and Action (PIRMA) initiated a People’s Initiative attempt. The proponents suggested that both chambers of Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate, should vote jointly on the proposed amendments in a constitutional assembly. This proposal raises significant concerns regarding constitutional principles and the democratic process enshrined in the 1987 Philippine Constitution.
The 1987 Philippine Constitution explicitly outlines the process for constitutional amendments, specifically in Article XVII. As such, the proposal to have both chambers vote jointly deviates from these constitutionally prescribed methods and risks undermining the foundational principles of our legal system.
Furthermore, the Supreme Court has consistently upheld the importance of adhering to constitutional processes. In Lambino v. COMELEC, the Court stressed the need to strictly comply with constitutional provisions regarding amendments. Any departure from the specified modes can be seen as a violation of the Constitution and may be subject to legal challenges.
The proposed amendment risks diluting the democratic essence of the constitutional amendment process. A joint vote in a constitutional assembly could allow for a simple majority to prevail, potentially disregarding the need for a broad consensus on matters of such significance. This may lead to amendments that do not adequately reflect the will and interests of the Filipino people.
This aggressive attempt in a Marcos Jr.-led administration is paradoxical compared to what happened four decades ago during the dictatorship of President Marcos Sr., which gravely hampered the development of our country.
In conclusion, we firmly oppose and reject the proposal for both chambers of Congress to vote jointly in a constitutional assembly for amendments to the 1987 Philippine Constitution. We call for the state to uphold all of the constitutional principles, respect the will of the Filipino people, and ensure all democratic, economic, political, and social rights are fully protected.
Today, our hearts overflow with pride and joy as we celebrate the incredible achievement of three exceptional individuals who not only served as pillars of leadership within the Adamson College of Law Student Government but are now standing at the threshold of an exciting new chapter as Juris Doctor Graduates.
As you step into the next phase of your journey, we also extend our heartfelt wishes for the upcoming Bar Exams. As you prepare to face this final step toward becoming legal practitioners, we wish you the strength to overcome challenges, the focus to navigate complexities, and the confidence to showcase the knowledge you've acquired.
