💫BAZAAR: A Collaboration of Skills and Talents💫

This project aims to promote sustainable fashion in any form of creativity. This promotes inclusivity among the PNU community, including students, professors, and staff who wish to participate in this bazaar for them to show their skills and talents through selling budget-friendly arts and crafts. Non-PNUans may come to visit.

The PNU Biological Society will work hand in hand to organize this event as well as to collaborate with different organizations and individuals. The bazaar target date is from November to December.

Project Title: Leaf a Lasting Legacy: Branching into a Greener Future

Description: This project is a two-day event aims to raise environmental awareness and contribute to reforestation efforts within the local community, while addressing the effects of increasing heat indices in urban areas.

Participants will engage in an environmental awareness seminar on Day 1, learning about the important role of trees in maintaining a healthy ecosystem and combating the effects of climate change. On Day 2, participants will have the opportunity to actively contribute to environmental conservation by participating in tree planting activity. This hands-on experience will promote a sense of responsibility towards environmental protection and empower individuals to be agents of change. By leaving a lasting legacy of lush greenery, we can collectively shape a greener and more sustainable future for our communities.

Studying Biology can be a challenging endeavor. Kermit’s Knowledge Garden: Nurturing Future Biologists aims to provide comprehensive educational support and resources for students studying biology. This project will offer biology tutoring services, sell second-hand laboratory materials, provide learning materials and reviewers, sell uniforms, and feature handicrafts made by biology majors. This initiative not only aims to generate income for the Society but also to enhance the learning experience of students by making essential resources more accessible and affordable.

𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸! Wellness Check is a whole-day activity dedicated to giving services to students, all aimed at promoting mental and physical health while integrating with the concepts of life science. This activity is strategically planned to be conducted every start or end of the term to let the students experience a short break after or before each term. Students and possible partner organizations are encouraged to be part of the implementation of this activity. Some of the activities that may be included here are free massage, blood pressure checks, awareness programs about various life science issues (e.g., HIV cases, reproductive health, vaccines, and fitness), and science-related workshops and exhibits.

𝗛𝗮𝘆, 𝗡𝗢 '𝘆𝗮𝗻. Hay, NO ‘yan (derived from the Filipino word for biology, haynayan) is a social media campaign aimed to correct the wrong information in the field of life sciences posted online. The core idea of this activity is to educate online users regarding rightful and accurate scientific knowledge. This posting is intended to be carried out twice a month.

This program also encourages participants traveling into different historical periods. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how scientific ideas and methods have developed over time and how they have shaped the world we live in today

The “ Kermit's Leap into Creativity: Frog Paper Folding Workshop” was inspired by Akira Yoshizawa who is known as the “father of modern origami.” This project aims to exhibit a creative and educational program for students, faculty
members, and other affiliates in the PNU community. Participants will be able to have a background about the nature of frogs and can also learn about basic origami folding techniques with the use of recycled papers. The PNU Biological Society may donate the folded frog papers locally or internationally to help people who are suffering from a sickness such as cancer patients and families who were affected by natural calamities.
