Araw ng Maynila This Monday, June 24

June 24, 2024, Monday, marks the 453rd observance of Araw ng Maynila, in commemoration of the proclamation on June 24, 1571, of Manila as the capital of the then Spanish colonial administration in the Philippines.

The UE community, especially the UE Manila community, joins the local government of the City of Manila and the constituency of Manila in celebrating this glorious occasion.

As such, there will be no UE Manila summer classes this Monday, June 24, and UE Manila offices will be closed on that date. UE Manila classes and office work will resume on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

(Note: Caloocan City Day is observed every February 16th.)

UNIVERSITY NEWS | UE to offer scholarships for incoming freshies

The University of the East (UE) has announced that incoming UE Freshmen for the A.Y. 2024-2025 may avail scholarships through its College Entrance Scholarship Program.

Senior high school (SHS) graduates who graduated With Highest Honors may be granted with 100% discount, while With High Honors graduates may be given a 30% discount.

A 15% discount may be availed by enrollees who were awarded With Honors while all SHS graduates will be given a Php 5,000 discount.

The discounts will only be applied to tuition fees.

To apply, Warrior freshmen must submit their Certificate of Academic Excellence Award, along with the number of graduates signed by their former school principal or registrar.

UE CLaw Graduate Appointed as New PCSO Board Chair!

The University of the East congratulates Judge Felix P. Reyes, one of UE’s outstanding graduates, on his appointment as the new Chairman of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Board of Directors!

Judge Reyes took his oath of office as PCSO Board Chairman this past Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in the presence of Executive Secretary and fellow UE College of Law (CLaw) graduate Lucas P. Bersamin, at Malacañang Palace.

Judge Reyes earned his Bachelor of Laws degree from the UE CLaw in 1986. He passed the Bar examinations in November of the same year.

He worked as an Associate Lawyer at Plaridel C. Jose Law Office from 1987 to 1992, before establishing his own practice via the F. P. Reyes Law Offices, where he served as a Senior Partner from 1992 to 2000. In 2001, Judge Reyes worked as the Deputy Register of Deeds for the City of Makati, the Acting Register of Deeds of Mandaluyong City and the Acting Chief of Property Division of the Land Registration Authority (LRA). In 2002, he became the Chief of the LRA’s Law Division. That same year, he became a Prosecutor II for the City of Pasay.

Judge Reyes was appointed as Presiding Judge of the Marikina City Regional Trial Court (RTC) in 2006 until his retirement in 2021. He also became an Acting RTC Presiding Judge of Calamba City from 2011 to 2013, of Taguig City from 2017 to 2019, and of Lipa City from February to September 2021.

In addition, he was also an Assistant Professor at the UE CLaw from 2016 to 2017.

Appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the PCSO in November 2021, Judge Reyes As the new chairman of the PCSO Board of Directors, Reyes now serves as the head of the government’s principal agency for raising and providing funds for health programs, medical assistance and services, and charities of national character.

Judge Reyes had recently been recognized by the UE Alumni Association, Inc. (UEAAI) as one of the Outstanding Alumni Awardees at the UE Grand Alumni Homecoming held on October 13, 2023, at Century Park Hotel.

We are saddened by the news that one of our beloved and most dedicated professor in the UE College of Law, Atty. Edwin R. Sandoval, passed away this afternoon. We extend our condolences to the bereaved family and offer prayers for the eternal repose of his soul.

Application for Juris Doctor Degree

A. Pursuant to Section 6 of LEB Memorandum Circular No. 60, s. 2020, the Legal Education Board has approved the university’s application to reissue diplomas for the purpose of substituting “Juris Doctor” for “Bachelor of Laws” in line with the LEB Memorandum Order No. 19, s. 2018.

B. The university will issue the new JD diploma to the graduate provided that, he or she has physically attended the conferment and has fully paid the corresponding fees.

C. The application period shall commence on 05 January 2024, until 15 February 2024.

D. The tentative date of the conferment shall be in April 2024. The venue will be announced later.

E. Procedure:
