The Department of Arts and Communication recently held a 2-day "Lecture Demo on AI Use in Arts, Communication, and Media Education" last June 20-21, 2024.
During the first day, Chris Millado (Playwright, Director, Former CCP Vice President and Artistic Director) shared insights on using AI in practice, discussing how innovations come from artists engaging with technology. On the second day, the talk by Edward Delos Santos Cabagnot (AI Expert and Veteran Filmmaker) centered around AI and teaching the digital migrant and natives, exploring the relationships between the various philosophical, ethical, and creative considerations in the use of this tool. Key points were discussed during the open forum with the speakers after their presentations. Small group discussions were done by the program committees in the afternoon.
The department warmly expresses its thanks to the speakers for the valuable insights and fruitful discussions, as well as the Cultural Center of the Philippines for their support in making this event a success. We also thank Dean Maria Constancia O. Carrillo for giving the welcome remarks and joining us during the first day and VCAA Heizel Manapat-Reyes for joining us during the second day.
