There's no need for bluffing and brinksmanship if you're honest about what you need, what you can and can't accept, and why you're in the negotiation. Tell them you want to find a solution and will try your best to come up with new ideas, but don't be afraid to say what you can't accept. Maintain a firm but patient and cheerful attitude.
