In this session, we'll dive into the impact of graphic design on school promotion and communication. Discover the world of Canva and Adobe Express, our creative tool of choice. Learn to set up your education accounts, explore templates, elements, and tools, and create your first masterpiece. Get ready to boost your school's message with compelling visuals!
Micro-PD:
This professional learning is completely asynchronous. Each week a mini-lesson will be sent out to the participants via email. Participants are encouraged to complete the lesson each week. Of course, support will be provided virtually or in person upon request. The deadline for all work to be completed is November 10, 2023.
Who is this professional learning for?:
Primarily anyone who is responsible for creating graphics and information to be shared on your districts/schools/classrooms' social media pages. Ideal for administrators, admin assistants, athletic directors/coaches, art or band directors, or any other club/activity leader. Or just anyone who wants to learn more about Canva and Adobe Express. No experience necessary!

A VariQuest machine is a tool that allows educators to create and print high-quality posters, banners, cutouts, and other visual aids for the classroom or other learning environments.
In this three-hour session, you will learn how to design and print from the VariQuest Machine. Come with some ideas of something you would like to create for your classroom and walk out with it that day! (You will be sent more information before our time together to help you generate ideas). One lucky participant will win a CEM@T gift card to make other project ideas come to life.

Gamification in the classroom has become an increasingly popular way to engage students, improved motivation, and enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Educational games can be designed to teach a variety of subjects, such as math, science, history, and language arts, in a way that is interactive and enjoyable for students.
In this session, participants will be learning about the importance of gamification/esports using the Nintendo Switch gaming system. These gaming systems will be available for classroom checkout beginning in the 2023-24 school season. Teachers of all ages and abilities are welcome! One lucky participant will go home with a Nintendo Switch of their own!

An electronic cutting machine such as a Cricut or Silhouette can be used in the classroom for a variety of purposes. Join Leeann McMichael, Art teacher at Onsted Schools and Adjunct professor at Adrian College as she teaches how to design visual aids and custom projects for your classroom. Discuss how to use a cutting machine with your students to encourage creativity in a group or individual projects.
The CEM@T has an in-house Cricut and Cameo Silhouette machine for use by all CEM@T visitors. All participants who complete this session will be entered to win a Cricut Joy!

The Glowforge is a laser cutter and engraver that can be a useful tool in the classroom. In this session, Leeann McMichael, Art teacher at Onsted Schools and Art Adjunct Professor at Adrian College will discuss a variety of ways to incorporate a tool like this into the classroom curriculum; from using pre-made designs to having students create their own.
She will also cover designing and use of Glowforge.
The CEM@T will have an in-house Glowforge for use by all CEM@T visitors along with a Glowflorge you can check out to use in your classroom! All participants who complete this session will be entered to win up to $200 in materials for your next project!

Don't miss all the excitement in CEM@T on July 25, 2023. Reserve a spot for your little ones today. Santa can only stay with us for a short time before he has to return to the North Pole. We will have crafts, creative play, storytime, and of course the center itself. So much to try to get done in a short amount of time. See you soon.

🚙Professional Learning to Go
Literacy, engineering design thinking, collaboration, and creation, as well as soft skills that include inquiry and problem-solving skills all in one with PSTL!
The first 10 participants to sign up will receive a Makedo Explore Kit along with a Zip Snip tool to use for the course and to keep for their classroom. Materials can be picked up at the CEM@T Center the week of July 20-21st.
Anyone still wishing to take the course after the first 10 have registered can borrow materials for the class from our REMC Checkout.
Each day a mini-lesson will be sent out to the participants via email.
Participants are encouraged to complete the lesson each day. However, the deadline for all work to be completed by July 27th.

Kids in grades 1 - 6 can drop by the library to learn about and design a Rube Goldberg Machine! The program takes place at the Main Branch -- 4459 W US 223.

🚙Professional Learning To-Go!

Did you know that Santa loves Summer Time and since he is going to be in town on July 25 CEM@T has invited him into the center. Bring your kiddos over for some wintertime fun. RSVP so Santa is aware of how many he will need to talk with and address their concerns and suggestions.

A BIG shout out to all Lenawee County school bus drivers. You are not forgotten! Thank you for getting our kiddos safely to school this past year! It is a very important piece to the puzzle. Without a beginning there is no end. Yes the end has come congratulations.
