Kia Ora!! Welcome to the UC Geogsoc page! We are so glad you're here!! We run a range of social events and academic support.
Here you'll find information about our upcoming events, opportunities and other fun stuff that is happening across Otautahi. GeogSoc is the go to club at Canterbury for students studying geography or interested in general. Membership is $10 with many different events running throughout the year.

The New Zealand Geographical Society (NZGS) is searching for an enthusiastic undergraduate geography student to serve as a co-Social Media Lead for the national Choose Geography campaign!
Are you passionate about geography and love sharing content online? This is your chance to get involved, build experience, and connect with the geography community across Aotearoa.
🗓 Application Deadline: 6 June 2025
🔍 What we’re looking for:
* A current undergraduate geography student (any level)
* Preferably someone with:
* An existing social media following, and/or
* An interest in physical or geospatial geography
* Based in the South Island (not required, but preferred)
You’ll be working alongside another student and the NZGS team to grow engagement and promote the value of geography in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Walk from Lyttelton to Diamond Harbour with GeogSoc, UC Women’s Wellbeing, EnviroSoc and BioSoc!! 🌿👣. Please ensure that you slip, slop and slap with sunscreen, wear appropriate footwear and BYO lunch 🥪😋🥾
Perfect way to get outdoors, enjoy the views, explore Christchurch and spend time with some awesome people 🌞💚
If you want to travel by bus 🚌 Meet at the UCSA at 9.25am to catch the bus to the interchange. Then the bus to Lyttelton at 9.50am, getting to Lyttelton at 9.59am. If you want to meet us there… meet at the Lyttelton Ferry at 10:30am to board the ferry at 10.50am! ⛴️
