Associate Professor George Wu’s research paper, With Trust We Innovate: Evidence from Corporate R&D Expenditure, won the MSA MBS Research Excellence Award. The paper was published in Technological Forecasting and Social Change, a highly influential journal with an Impact Factor of 10.884. George and his coauthors find a significantly positive relationship between social trust and the firm’s R&D expenditure in the paper. More specifically, a one standard deviation increase in the measure of Trust would result in an 11.76 million RMB (about 1.84 million USD) increase in a firm’s R&D expenditure.

Congratulations to all our new graduates and their whānau. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

What a week! We’ve had an amazing time celebrating our graduates across ten ceremonies in Palmerston North over the past four days.

Congratulations to all our new grads and welcome to our alumni whānau. Your hard work and determination has paid off. These past few years have been full of ups and downs, and unforeseen circumstances that none of us could have predicted. But you stuck it out, you made it and we are so proud of you.

On Tuesday we kicked off the graduation week with our first ever Māori and Pacific graduation ceremonies. While we have celebrated our Māori and Pacific tauira with a celebration each year, this was the first time we have had an official graduation ceremony dedicated to these graduates.

Ka nui te koa o te ngākau.

The atmosphere was 🔥, whānau and friends were 🔥, the weather had its moments but all in all, the week was 🔥.

If you've tagged us in your grad posts, you're in the draw to win our merch pack. We'll draw a winner early next week and get in touch. There is still time to enter, just tag us or send through any relevant grad content so we can share.

A massive congrats once again.
Keep in touch, we cannot wait to see where your journey will take you next.

Exams begin next week so here is a ⌛timely reminder from MBS about the process of applying for Impaired Performance (IP) and Aegrotat (AEG) if necessary over the exam period. Some important things to note:
📅You can only apply for IP/AEG AFTER the date of your exam as that is what is being assessed.
👍An IP is for when you have sat the exam but something affected your ability to do as well as usual and an ⛔AEG is for when you have not sat the exam.
✔️As much as possible we advise you to sit the exam and then apply for an IP if necessary. Please note that some courses are not eligible for an AEG.
🗎We ask that you please provide supporting documents that show an impairment existed on the day of the assessment.
🖊️Please remember to apply within two weeks of the exam date and upload a complete application! This includes signing and dating the form which you can find here 👉https://bit.ly/3U1kTKN
📆If you are asked for further information please provide this ASAP, the date you are given is the last possible date not the due date!
If you have any questions about this process or exams in general please comment below 😀 Best wishes for your final exams.

It’s Money Week again and while it’s never anybody’s favourite conversation to have, it’s an important one. The annual campaign is a call to action for New Zealanders to take control of their financial future by encouraging conversations and consider taking action to strengthen their financial wellbeing.

Not sure where to start? Our Financial Education and Research Centre team have created a Financial Resilience survey to encourage Massey staff and students to check the pulse of their financial health. The survey is completely anonymous and aims to raise individual awareness and provide feedback on critical aspects of money management, and to investigate the overall patterns of personal money management among different groups.
