We are delighted to invite all members of our St. Bede's College community to a very special gathering in London on Sunday 30 June. For those who are going to be in England next month, it would be fantastic to see you there.

We've lost touch with many old boys who are now living in the UK, and would greatly appreciate help in spreading the word about this event. If you know of any old boys, parents, or ex-members of staff who reside in or around London, please let us know or simply share this invitation with them.

Thank you for helping us stay connected!

Great to see old boy - Angus Grant (SBC Head Boy 2020) featuring on the news with his brother James (current student). A great story and a very inspiring young Bedean. Well done Angus!

It's not too late to register for our Auckland After 5 event happening this Thursday!

Congratulations to old boy Liam Potts (2017-2021) on his selection to the New Zealand Black Sox today! Liam is one of 16 athletes who will represent New Zealand at a Group Stage Qualifier in Prince Albert, Canada, from July 10 to July 14.

Softball New Zealand wrote upon announcing the team:

The selected athletes have earned a well-deserved place to represent New Zealand on the international stage. It was a tough selection process, reducing from the wider Black Sox squad to 22, and then to this final 16. The depth of talented athletes made for robust selection discussions.

Wishing you all the best Liam!

Mark your calendars because our next Old Boys' After 5 event is just around the corner! Join us in the City of Sails on May 2, full details of this event are below. Rector Jon McDowall and members of the Community Office will be attending.

RSVP and we'll see you there!

Our heartfelt congratulations to Matt Henry (2005-2009) for his stellar season with the Black Caps! Last night Matt took home the prestigious Winsor Cup for men’s first-class bowling at the New Zealand Cricket Awards, an accolade that follows closely on the heals of his starring performance with the ball at Hagley Oval during the Test against Australia. Matt took 7-67, the second-best figures by a New Zealand bowler against Australia, figures only eclipsed by Sir Richard Hadlee’s iconic 9-52 at Brisbane in 1985. Matt's overall stats for the two test series against Australia were 17 wickets at 15.7, he also scored 101 runs with the bat with an average of 25.25.

In his article 'Black Caps vs Australia: How Matt Henry went from test bowling cover to key weapon' writer and fellow old boy Brendon Egan (1998-2002) wrote of the performance at Hagley Oval "Henry was electric... The Black Caps had Henry to thank for almost single-handedly lifting them back into the match with the ball".

Today we had five old boys involved in a friendly match between the Crusaders U20s and the Highlanders U20s ahead of next week's Super Rugby U20 tournament in Taupō.

Super Rugby U20 sees the best young players in New Zealand compete against each other, providing a great development experience for players, team management and referees.

Teams from the Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika rugby franchises will join 162 emerging players from the Blues, Chiefs, Hurricanes, Crusaders, Highlanders and a New Zealand Barbarians selection for the third edition of the tournament from March 19-25 at Owen Delany Park in Taupō. All matches will be live and exclusive on Sky.

L to R: Christian Ioane (2019 - 2023), Cameron Rawlings (2018 - 2022), Riley Lucas (2018 - 2022), Isaac Hutchinson (2017 - 2021), Ben O'Donovan (2018 - 2022).

How fantastic it was to catch up with these old boys last weekend!! Members of our 1974-1978 cohort came together to celebrate their 50 year reunion, many having not seen each other since they went through the St Bede's College gates for the last time. From Friday night's drinks and canapés to Saturday's nostalgic school tour and shared dinner, it was a weekend filled with laughter and memories. A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who joined, especially those who traveled from afar for the reunion!

Now, attention will turn to finding members of our 1975-1979 cohort - your turn is coming up in 2025! If this is your year group, we'd love to hear from you. Reach out to the Community Office at [email protected] .

We are coming to Wanaka for the A&P Show, and while we are there, we are inviting our past, current, and future families in the area to join us for a casual catch-up after 5 pm.

RSVP to [email protected] and let us know if you plan to attend.

Join us in celebration at our opening school Mass this Friday, February 16, starting at 11 am in the gymnasium. Bishop Michael Gielen will be the main celebrant with old boy Fr
Alister Castillo (2004-2008) concelebrating. Everybody is welcome!

What a bustling week on campus as we joyfully welcomed our students back to school! It was a special day on Tuesday for our new Year 9s and their whanau, who received a warm reception from our Year 13 students and from staff during Orientation Day. Wednesday brought a liturgy and tie presentation ceremony for our Year 13s, a tradition initiated during the school's centennial year to honor and transition our most senior students into their leadership roles in the school. Wrapping up the week, we had a blast at the school swimming sports today despite some rain! 🏊‍♂️🎉

It was wonderful to see so many 'Golden Bedeans' at today's festive SBCOBA luncheon for our most senior old boys.

Today's event was held following the College's first ever Grandparent Day, where 220 grandparents joined their grandson's for a special morning tea, school tour, and Liturgy.

We have a very special event happening at the college on Tuesday 5 December. The Golden Bedean Luncheon will bring together members of our community who are aged 70 years +.

As many old boys of this era are not active on social media or email, we need your help in spreading the word! If you know a college old boy who attended St Bede's prior to c.1965 then please ask them if they are aware of the luncheon. If they are interested in attending, event details are below.

Thank you!
