How do you get more PR?

I teach about this in my Women's Leadership Strategy program: Promote yourself to the top. How can you promote yourself to the top?

1️⃣ Always have an overview of your past achievements READY. If I meet you tomorrow, you should be able to pitch yourself in 1 minute (or even 30 seconds)
2️⃣ Have a WOW online presence where you continuously share your updates to stay on top of everyone's mind
3️⃣ Build the skill of Storytelling. Stories stick in people's minds more than stats, facts, and figures. Where do you come from, what struggles (internal and external) have you been through? And what transformations have you experienced?

I've started posting all of my content of the Women's Leadership Strategy program for FREE so everyone can benefit.

Ironically, what's truly harmful is the unfair representation of Muslims in the media, perpetuating stereotypes that lead to a lot of pain and suffering—the effects of this we can see unfolding in our world today…

🌍 Media portrayals of hijab-wearing women often display us as helpless or oppressed, which shapes societal perceptions. It's essential to challenge these narratives because, let me tell you, I know countless hijab-wearing women who are influential leaders and highly educated.

👀 In my talk, I discuss the biases, sometimes subtle and sometimes not, affecting how people perceive and interact with me. From being underestimated or people feeling uncomfortable around me because they think I judge them to facing outright aggression…

🚀 Despite these challenges, I choose to wear the hijab proudly. It's a symbol of my personal freedom, a choice to focus on my message rather than appearance.

During our upcoming sessions, we will be focusing on developing a plan for 2023!!! We will discuss our goals and develop a WLS strategy with concrete actions and a timeline.

We will also look back at 2022 and reflect on what took place, the highs, and lows, and lessons learned. You don’t want to miss this!

Possibly one of the best pieces of advice I have ever read was in the book Miracle Mornings. Author Hal E. advises actively seeking rejection daily.

I remember reading this while still being the type of person who would feel paralyzed by rejection. This piece of advice changed my life.

Nowadays, I seek lots of rejection every day, and sometimes it is still painful, but luckily I also have the mentality of laughing at my pain. And I have lots to laugh at FYI 💁🏽‍♀️.

Once you see this all as a game, work will never feel the same again. If you’re not seeking enough rejection daily, this is your sign!!!

Today we had an absolutely essential talk about confidence levels, and we will continue on this road during our next group coaching call.

What did we discuss?

- Do you remember a pivotal moment when your confidence positively impacted your life?
- What does it look like when you’re feeling very confident?
- What does it look like when you’re feeling insecure?
- Which triggers lead to you feeling insecure?
- Which habits make you feel confident?

Did you know that? Even recruiters do it (even though it’s not allowed in many countries).

And your online presence will decide how people view you, treat you and how much respect they give you.

Is this a negative thing? I don’t think so. Because this means you get to decide the first impression you make on people.

Accept how things work and make the most of someone’s (forbidden) Google experience.

This is also the reason I put substantial time into creating an appealing online presence.

→ Do you want to know what I’m like as a person? You’ll find plenty of videos online of me where I interview, get interviewed, or talk about something I care about.

If you’re looking to get started on this, follow this advice:

✅ Schedule time weekly to work on your online presence
✅ Collect testimonials on your performance
✅ Find media featuring you so you’ll have images/videos to post at least 2 times per week.

Today we discussed how negative career memories could prevent you from becoming more powerful (it's one of women's most significant power gaps, according to research!!!)

We talked about
- Keeping records of triggers
- How to recognize patterns in your triggers
- How to categorize the different ways your mind misleads you

Good luck, everyone, I hope we can all beat those negative thoughts that were holding us back. The time to take action is NOW.

Always do the things that scare you.

I believe the growth mindset is one of the most critical ingredients for success. And the growth mindset dictates that whenever something scares me, I have to do it.

And I know where I got it from; when I was very young and would tell my mother I couldn't do something, I would say, "I cannot." My mom's standard reply used to be, "cannot is dead" (her literal words in Dutch, "kan niet is dood").

It might sound a little bit tough, but it's how I learned not to let anything stop me. And being a timid, fearful and sensitive child: I needed to hear this.

That's also what I did the past month when I went from event to event on three continents in 10 days. I reminded myself every time: cannot is dead.

Now that I'm back in Holland, I feel refreshed, ready to go, and grateful.

Tomorrow I'm doing a photo shoot for the magazine Vandaag at my favorite location Felix Meritis (where I'll be a more frequent speaker next year... more about that soon!). The super-talented photographer Vincent Boon will be shooting me, so I'm feeling fortunate! After the photoshoot, I am hosting a session for an iconic Dutch software company on the need for more inclusion in a digitizing world and how they can become true allies.

Pushing my boundaries as I did in the past month has made busy days a piece of cake. And this is what the growth mindset is all about!
