Crescent University Announces Founder’s Day Lecture as Grand Finale of 20th Anniversary

As part of activities marking its 20th Anniversary, Crescent University Abeokuta has announced the Founder’s Day Lecture as the highlight and grand finale of the celebration.

The lecture, scheduled for Saturday, 25th April 2026, will bring together members of the university community, distinguished guests, and well-wishers to reflect on the institution’s legacy, growth, and continued impact in shaping future leaders.

The event will also feature the Bola Ajibola Community Service Awards, a Book Launch in honour of the Proprietor, and Staff Long Service Awards recognising dedication and commitment of 15 years and above.

Members of staff, students, and the general public are encouraged to attend this landmark event as the University concludes its anniversary celebrations on a reflective and inspiring note.

Prof. Kehinde Kareem joins Crescent University

A professor of Microbiology at the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Ibadan, Kehinde Titilope Kareem has joined academic community of Crescent University, Abeokuta.

Prof. Kareem will be contributing her wealth of experience of about two decades in science and training to the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CONAS) of the prestigious Crescent University which prides itself as citadel of academic and moral excellence.

According to her letter of appointment dated 17th March, 2026 and signed by the University Registrar, Prince Zakariyya Ajibola, Prof. Kehinde Titilope Kareem will be on one-year sabbatical effective April 2026.

"I write on behalf of the Governing Council of the Crescent University to approve your application for Sabbatical Appointment as Professor in the College of Natural and Applied Sciences", the letter stated

A research professor, Prof. Titilope Kareem joined Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta as Assistant Lecturer (2006-2009), then moved to Natural Horticultural Research Institute, Ibadan as Research Officer I (2009-2012) and Senior Research Officer, Plant Virologist (2012-2013).

She later joined Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Obafemi Awolowo University becoming a Research Fellow I between 2013-2016;

Senior Research Fellow, University-Plant Virologist-
between 2016-2019; Principal Research Fellow,
2019-2022 and Research Professor from 2022 till date.

Prof. Titilope Kareem is a recipient of scholarship, awards and fellowships including:

Conference of All Muslim Organization of Nigeria (CAMON) Scholarship (2009-2010),

Dean’s Award for students with Grade Point Average of 4.50 and above in the College of Natural Sciences, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (1998/99),

Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Food Safety (2016),

Connected Virus Network Fellowship Virus Vector Viceversa (CONNECTEDV4) held at University of Bristol, United Kingdom (2019) and several others.

A cerebral scholar, she has published over 60 journal articles and has attended national and international seminars and conferences over the years.

Crescent University bags 100% in Nursing exam 7th time

Crescent University, Abeokuta has successfully clinched one hundred percent pass rate in Nursing public examination for the seventh time, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ibraheem Gbajabiamila has unveiled.

He revealed this during the presentation of the 400-level undergraduates who all made the March 2026 diet of the RM professional examination organised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

Earlier, in his remarks, the head of Department of Nursing, Crescent University, Abeokuta, Dr Shafiu Ademola assured the new Registered Midwives that "this achievement is a testament to your hard work, discipline and commitment to excellence. You have gone through rigorous academic and clinical training, sleepless nights and demanding assessment".

While expressing appreciation to parents, Ademola said their support, sacrifice and belief in their children had made moments of celebration possible.

He stressed that the university management deserved gratitude for
"providing an enabling learning environment and resources. Your continuous attention in serving our needs even when it came unexpected is commendable and always appreciated.

In a related development, the Registrar, on behalf of the management, applauded Dr Ademola on his recent award of Fellowship of African Institute of Public Health Professionals.

Also present at the ceremony are the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rasaki Kareem;University Bursar, Alh Tirimisiyu Gbadebo Ogunmefun; Chairman of Crescent University Parent Forum (CUPAF) , Dr Toriola Coker, Coordinator of 400-Level Nursing Parents, Alhaji Ola-Aje and other parents.
