Hey kids.
Good way to showcase beautiful Norfolk Island.
ABC’s Play School are looking for video submissions featuring children from every state in Australia to appear in our “Through the Windows” segment as part of our upcoming Play School series themed “My Place, My Home”.
The series showcases the amazing variety of places Australian children call home! Whether you live in a city, coastal town, the outback, an island or the country; we’d love to feature it!
If your child (or a child you know) would be perfect then head over to https://www.abc.net.au/abckids for more information!

Why it’s better to let your child take 10 minutes putting on their own shoes than rush them to daycare or prep on time...
Dr Cynthia Hicban is not really advocating tardiness en masse in schools, but the University of the Sunshine Coast Education academic made some surprising – and encouraging – discoveries as she researched how children under six interact with others in an early childhood setting.

David Graham made a wonderful contribution to ABC Kids classics for many years.
David, the voice of Grandpa Pig and Wise Old Elf, has brought so much laughter and joy, and touched the hearts of millions of families across the world with his incredible talent.
Forever jumping in muddy puddles. May he rest in peace.

I’m such a sook! I just saw the ad for this book adaptation after Bluey and Pringle burst into tears. How beautiful to see my first play school heroine Benita Collings acting out this beautiful book.
I can’t wait to see this… I will probably cry more.

Update: Just to be clear, I don’t interpret this quote as being about praise. Young children “feel good” about themselves not because of an adult’s praise but in a loving, caring, safe space where they are free to express themselves, be heard, and lead their own play.
Update Update: Just a reminder that this fb page is intended for early childhood professionals. For our context, our own childhood experiences are not as relevant to our practice as current research and theory. Praise - and its harms - is a topic we study in order to best serve young children in a group care setting.
For those lay people responding to this post, rather than just disagreeing, I invite you to get curious about the topic and educate yourselves further.
For ECE professionals, how do you “make a kid feel good about themself”? (I cringe at the word “make” and the oversimplification of “feel good” but I appreciate Derengowski’s point).
