Partnering with Hope For the Future to End the Cycle of Poverty through Education
Operating as usual
Imagine having to repeat the school year even if you passed all your exams!
That's the situation in Malawi, where we have our 1-8 grade Primary School. Our 8th graders passed all their exams last year but couldn't continue because there wasn't enough room for them in high school. Now, they're trying again.
We received this text today, probably sent to everyone in the country.
"Kodi mukudziwa kuti Boma linayika Ndondomeko yoti mwana yemwe anatengapo pathupi antha kubweleraso kusukulu?"
"Did you know that the government has a policy that a pregnant girl can go back to school?"
We're happy if this message gets to more people; education is the key EVEN to prevent early pregnancies in the future!
Throughout the years we've helped many children and young people go to or stay in school, as we believe education can indeed breaking the vicious cycle of poverty.
In Kachere, we have close to 800 students at our very own school.
In Mpyupyu we keep in school 135 children.
We also sponsor several young people to go to high school, the most recent one being Mphatso ("gift"), shown in the picture below. He's top of his class and was selected to go to one of the best high schools in town, but his problem is the problem many young people his age face: school fees.
It costs him $75 per trimester to break the cycle of poverty!
The funds for Mphatso came in so he will be able to continue his studies but there are many others just like him who need help.
Find ways to help on our missionary's webpage. 100% of your donation will go towards education in Malawi.
Kachere needs a High School!
What you see in the pictures below is the most beautiful thing ever; the school committee and local chiefs have met to do their part in the work, trusting and hoping for a High School in the future. They have agreed to work, mold and burn 100,000 bricks for us and even more if it's needed. They're doing this freely, to help with our financial burden.
In the meantime, our missionary has posted a video on why a High School is needed in this community. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyGELMYBjho

Our school is 100% free, we don't ask any fees from our learners.

Breaking the cycle of poverty through education!
Alongside our amazing project in Kachere, we also invest in education in another village, called Mpyupyu. In this place, 130 primary school children and 5 high schoolers are being kept in school for yet another year!!!
As you know, our school is free so that everyone - regardless of their financial means - can come and have access to education.
Other schools aren't like that, unfortunately. Many require uniforms and school fees and, if pupils don't have those, they get sent home.
Hope for the Future team in Malawi has contracted tailors from Mpyupyu, who have taken measurments for every child. They will all have new uniforms and their school fees will be paid for the entire year.
These 135 children go to 7 different schools in and around Mpyupyu. The high schoolers go to as far as Blantyre.
National High School Entrance Exams: Results are in!
The results of these exams are finally out and we have some good news and some news that could be better.
Out of the 50 students who took the exams, 44 passed. The other 6 will need to repeat the 8th grade.
News that could be better:
Only 1 of the 44 passing students was selected to go to High School. Sadly, there is no room for the rest and this is happening to all the other schools in Malawi, as there are very few High Schools in the country.
All hope is not lost, though, as we will try to find some empty slots for at least a few of our students. In the worst case scenario, they will need to wait until next year, when hopefully more spaces will be made available.
National High School Entrace Exams. Last day.
It's the last day of exams for our 8th grade students and everyone is feeling the pressure. The results of these 3 days of exams will determine the high school they will be selected to go to and, by extension, their future. None of them want to fail and repeat grade 8 and none of them want to go to an obscure high school. A good exam pass rate will also put our school on the map of Malawi. There is a lot at stake!
Exams of today: Primary Sciences in the morning; Arts and Life Skills in the afternoon.
The results will be out around mid-November - early-December.
We will keep you posted.
The simplest act can change lives forever. Just ask these kids.

According to the visa conditions, we are not allowed to work for money here in Malawi. ALL the money coming into the ministry needs to be from outside the country. This means we have to trust in God in ways we never had to do before coming as missionaries. This means we have to depend on His provision and the generosity of His people. It's our only choice.
Throughout the years we've had many needs. Some were bigger than others but we always knew that God will provide. This need - to keep the Primary School going - is very important to us. Through this work, we directly impact 800 people. Indirectly, countless people benefit and will benefit. These children have families and they will have their own family one day. Education breaks the cycle of poverty and brings these children to a place where they can read the Word of God and understand His will for their lives.
As to many other needs in Malawi, we ask because they can't. We are the voice for those without a voice. None of these 800 children and thousands upon thousands of family members will have be able to reach to you and ask for a single cent. They can't, so someone has to be their voice.
We're very close, right now approaching 79% of the total needed. Just one less Starbucks coffee this month will keep 2 children in school. One less dinner in town this month will provide education for 1 child for the entire year.
I am asking you to give to either of these campaigns.
Sadly, stories like this one happen too often here in Malawi, and that is why our school was built by a registered building contractor. It cost more but it gives us confidence the walls will not collapse on our children.
Pray for the grieving parents.
Give them a chance to escape from the vicious cycle of poverty.

At this point in time, we're close to 40% being funded, school year 2019-2020. I have faith God can do this.
Many good people shared this need and even many more have given. We all just want one thing: to keep the education at a high standard and keep giving children opportunities and a future.
Many people feed children and help them today. We feed them too, but we also teach them how to feed themselves.
Give them a chance.
Ridgecrest will continue to support ministry in Malawi, we have 16 children that need sponsorship for the feeding center but we also need support for the school. This school is a private school and shares Jesus with over 800 kids per day! So not only is this school changing their earthly future, but their eternal one as well. Can you invest in their eternity in this small way? $3 a month ($36/year) educates 1 child!
Urgent Need Dear partners in the ministry, As you know, God has blessed Hope for the Future with an amazing ministry in Malawi, allowing us to do children’s ministry, church planting, pastor’s conferences, Bible training, care for widows, feed the orphans and educate children. Since 2016, the Lord ble...

Today we received the first delivery of 30 school desks, ready to be used by the children in grade 7. Slowly we will replace all the old desks with this type, which will hopefully be a lot stronger and last for a long time.
Miracles don’t produce faith, but faith produces miracles....
I heard this today and it reminded me of miracle of building a full elementary school, of feeding orphans, of building wells, of providing for school fees. It all started because of the faith of a few.
Step out in faith and be part of this continuing miracle! Help with school fees, sponsor an orphan or step out with huge faith and go to Malawi to serve! What a blessing!
Progress of the work on the 4th school block. Our men are making the final preparations and, any day now, the roof should be installed. Next up: the interior.
Would you continue to pray and prayerfully consider donating so we can continue? It only costs $3 to educate a child.

Please join us in prayer that this project will be complete. Thank you for all of your support!!
Hope for the Future Primary School Partnering with Hope For the Future to End the Cycle of Poverty through Education
I dream of becoming a doctor, I dream of becoming a nurse, I dream of becoming a teacher, I dream of becoming a police officer." These are dreams listed on the profiles for our orphans in the village of Kachere in Malawi, Africa. Not one of them says, "I dream of living in poverty". These kids are just like our kids, they dream, they hope, they want to escape the poverty they seem doomed to. This is not the kind of poverty where you can't pay a bill or you can't buy the newest phone. This is the kind of poverty where you starve to death, where you don't have more than one outfit, where you sleep on a dirt floor. But....these kids, the kids in our village have hope. Hope to escape the poverty through education. In the last two years, there has been a primary school built. Grades 1- 6 now have over 600 kids attending school, some ,for the first time in their lives . For the first time, they have hope, they can dream. You, our friends, our partners, have helped give them this hope. If you would like to continue this hope, if you haven't had the opportunity to make a life changing donation for this project, you still can! Here is how you can help!
1. Join Bridge Creek School in raising money to build the final building to make this a complete primary school. Only one building left to make this happen. They have currently raised $1900 of the $20,000 goal.
2. Become a monthly supporter of the school. $5, $10, $20 or more. It costs $1500 currently and $2000 a month once the last building is done to cover the costs of running the school. Salaries, supplies, food, etc. 100 people donating just $20 a month can employ 12-15 teachers, provide supplies and maintenance that will continue every month to give hope to these students, teachers, community.
Already a supporter? Maybe you support 1 or more orphans, we appreciate you! We aren't asking for more. We are asking you share this project, reach out to others! We have gone to this village ever year since 2014 and can personally vouch that this school is changing lives! Thank you, if you made it to the end of this long post, for your time. Thank you for your consideration. None of us can do all of it, but all of us can do a lot!
Hey friends, just letting you know where we are on school in village of Kachere in Malawi. We have raised $1900 towards the final building of the primary school.
