Climate Change Has Reached Our Shores 25/09/2013

Good Luck President Loeak as you face the United Nations to present the Majuro Declaration.

"For too long, others have used American inaction as an excuse not to act themselves. The world needs American leadership on climate change. United States support for the Majuro Declaration could not be more welcome, and it is likely to spur action from others."

Climate Change Has Reached Our Shores My country, the Marshall Islands, is in terrible danger. But we can do something about it — and you can help.

"Climate change is a defining challenge of our time. This trip that I am on has taken me from 71 degrees north latitude to today, at 7 degrees north latitude. That is from Barrow, Alaska - the tip of the coastal plain in the Arctic - to here. I have seen glaciers melting up close. I have watched coastal erosion on the northern coast of Alaksa. What happens in Alaska impacts you. What happens around the world impacts you more than anyone else, and that fact is obvious flying into the Marshall Islands."

Small islands make big statement on climate change 09/09/2013

“The responsibility of all to act falls to every government, every company, every organization and every person with the capacity to do so, both individually and collectively.”

Small islands make big statement on climate change Sometimes, the biggest ideas come from the smallest of places. In other times, desperation pushes individuals, groups or nations to bite off more than they can chew. In the case of the Marshall Islands, both of the above statements may be true.
