ESSP supports WAM on Canoe Building Training

ESSP is pleased to collaborate with the Canoes of the Marshall Islands – Waan Aelõñ in Majel (WAM) on a new six-month canoe building and carpentry program.

ESSP’s monitoring and evaluation specialist, Rahim Saatov, recently met with the first cohort of 25 students. He outlined the goals and expectations of the World Bank-financed project, emphasizing adherence to grant regulations and quality standards. ESSP is dedicated to supporting these future leaders throughout their training journey.

WAM’s focus on traditional Marshallese canoe building aligns perfectly with ESSP’s mission. This program not only preserves cultural heritage but also equips students with valuable education, transferable vocational skills, and life skills. ESSP is funding three cohorts of students through a training grant provided by the NTC.

Stay tuned for updates on these future leaders' progress!
