Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies (BACS)
The Communication Studies program enables students to master a variety of communication
competencies required for success in a wide range of exciting careers as well as building active and responsible citizenship. The program trains students in academic as well as professional and applied communication with an emphasis on creative and critical abili

ties. Students gain theoretical, technical, and applied expertise in fields such as public relations and advertising organizational and international communication, writing, production, and media research. Intended Learning Outcomes:

Graduates will (1) gain an understanding of the role of media in shaping contemporary societies
and cultures; (2) understand the dynamics of global media flows and their impact on the sociopolitical and cultural affairs of modern societies; (3) build an appreciation for the role of
media systems in fostering democracy and informed citizenship; (4) gain theoretical, technical and applied knowledge in the fields of public relations, advertising, international communication, organizational communication, print and audio-visual production, and media research; and (5) learn how to apply various research methods to the academic (as well as administrative) study of media and communications. What is in the program? Students are offered theoretical and applied knowledge in public relations, advertising, print and
online production, international communication, visual communication, video and film
production, and more. They specialize in media production or in professional communication
and they can expand their horizons by choosing a minor in Arabic language and culture, African
studies, human resource development, international studies, women and development, or
business administration. All students complete one or more internships in industry. In addition,
the University boasts a strong Liberal Arts curriculum that provides students with an
interdisciplinary background in areas such as science, mathematics, history, political science,
literature, and philosophy. BACS-Program Requirements
Who is the program for? The program is designed for students who hold a high school diploma (Baccalauréat or
equivalent). Scholarships | Financial Aid
Financial assistance is available for students demonstrating academic merit and/or financial need. This assistance may include scholarships, grants, loans, or work-study aid. Career Opportunities
The program prepares students for a wide range of careers. Opportunities exist in communication
and information departments of ministries and private companies, advertising and marketing
agencies, media institutions, NGOs, and international organizations. It also opens the way to
advanced studies in the field. The degree, like all other Al Akhawayn University degrees, is recognized by the Moroccan
